Rear End Fluid Service Notice

Hey all,

Won't be able to give too much detail on this other than what I was told by the Service department at my dealer.

I took it in to schedule my first oil change and to let them know I was hearing an odd noise out of the rear end when doing low speed turns when I first Drive it that day. A rubbing or vibration is best I could explain. Drove with the tech and tried to replicate with no luck. He thinks it's only when the car is still cold. He also mentioned that they had got a service notice regarding certain RPOs of the 6gens where a noise in rear may have to require them to drain the rear end fluid, put new, drive it, drain again, and add new till the sound goes away.

He couldn't remember what specific vins it was on but that they would look at either way when I leave it with them for the oil change.

This would be new and a good thing as I had the same issue a month ago and dealer had no service bulletin about it. I ended up changing the fluid myself to get the sound to go away

Had the exact same thing in my Challenger. I ended up draining the fluid, refilling with Mobil 1, and the sound was still there so I put in a tube of Trans-X LSD friction modifier. Hasn't made a peep since and it still lays down nice dual tracks. Some diffs just need the friction modifier, so I wonder if that's the case with the Camaro.

Mine is chattering at low speed turns. I had to get out in traffic quickly so kinda spun the tires while turning and it was like a sound you'd get when it didn't have the proper amount of limited slip additive in it.

And wow well glad I'm not the only one then! But yeah I expected to have some issues with a first year car. Still love it and onto regret getting it!

I used the stuff recommended in the manual. It has LSD friction modifier already in it. Haven't heard a peep from it since

Except this is the same as the issue with early Camaro 5's.

Not encouraging.

Taking mine in tm for first oil change at 800 miles. I'm having the service writer to check the vin for the issue you are having

Update on my problem... mine wasnt this problem. Basically it wasn't one of the ones listed to have the issue, and after they looked into everything they could think of the sounds could be coming from they are at a standstill on what the issue is. They've contacted GM Engineering and are waiting to hear back on what else they should look for. Haven't had her since Tuesday.
