onstar question

Is it possible to pull a report about over-runs (high RPM driving) and / or vehicle location from Onstar? I think my car might have been joy-rided while it was out of my control.

I don't know about through onstar, but for future reference you can set the PDR to automatically record when you set the car to valet mode.

I had done this and the service advisor gave me a song and dance about how they weren't going to joyride the car and that they would need access to the computer, so I turned it off.

Kicking myself now.

I haven’t gotten to talk to the right person yet. The rep I spoke with told me it wasn’t possible, however there’s data on my onstar from the “safe driver” program before I enrolled, so somewhere there’s an archive of this data, I just haven’t gotten to speak to the right person or said the right combination of words to get access.

Did you have teen driver mode set up on your car? I don't have a new Camaro (yet) but on my 2017 GMC Canyon you can see if the rev limiter was hit (and if traction control was activated) in the teen driver mode section on the infotainment system...

Don't buy that garbage. I put my car in Valet mode when I get it serviced. All it does is lock out the radio and record them. Maybe if they need to work on the vehicle settings such as mag ride, steering, or exhaust mode flaps. Outside of that they don't need anything in there. I also always reset my trip so I can see if they drove an excessive amount of miles.

Yeah, it'll never be going back to the dealer w/o the valet mode enabled. Can you get the "teen driver" features in valet mode (trac control and rev limiter)?

They drove it about 9 miles, which is not excessive, but seems like a lot for a noise that only occurred at low speeds.

Yeah I'd say they barely needed to leave the parking lot.
