Any chance the LT5 makes it into a Camaro 2/28?

I think the days of the Camaro getting all the Corvette goodies are over. At some point the Corvette has to be a bit more special. But we will see.

The C4 ZR1 didn't share its engine
The C6 ZR1 didn't share its engine

The Camaro never got the 3rd gen LT4 and LT5, the LS6 or the LS9. It got the LS7 because the C7 showed up. The Camaro got the 10 speed first because it doesn’t fit in the C7.

I don’t see the Z/28 coming back. GM doesn’t care enough about the Camaro to give it the engines it needs. The ZL1 should have gotten the LT5, not the LT4.

Yeah.

That was probably his way of saying there won’t be a Z/28. Corvette has gone all in with supercharging. There won’t be another Corvette to justify the needed N/A engine.

Apparently the Tesla Coupe is stealing some of the ZR1's thunder. It's just a little quicker and faster.:willy:

"Tesla didn't just have its highly anticipated semi-truck to reveal on Thursday. The electric car maker surprised everyone when one of the semis unloaded an all-new Tesla Roadster from its trailer. Tesla claims the sleek, targa-top two-door can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, go 0-100 mph in 4.2 second, and complete the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds, numbers that would make it the quickest production car in the world."

Yeah, but the ZR1 will actually be built when GM says it will be built.

Yeah I get that. It’s just crazy what the Tesla numbers are.

And it won't be a garbage car once it is built. Teslas are the biggest turds on the road today. People that believe in Musk don't care about that, but they will when their only car is a Model 3 that needs to get sent to another state a few times a year to get repaired.

I don't believe Tesla is going to be around for very much longer.

From the get-go, they only envisioned themselves as a specialty parts supplier for EVs from other manufacturers. Then big companies like GM went and took everything in-house. Since then, they've tried their hand at producing their own vehicles. And the whole while, the company has been favorited by gov't assistance. Otherwise, it probably would have never gotten off the ground.

They have no mainstream vehicles...their three current vehicles are the S (big sedan), X (small-ish crossover), and the III. The first two are $75k, and $80k for base models. And the III is facing such tough production issues, their website even suggests you can order one for delivery in 18 months!

Now they're R&D'ing this new truck, which features about half the range of modern Semi's at twice the price...and the roadster...another niche vehicle.

By the time any of that actually gets out the door, GM's going to have half of the "20 EV vehicles by 2023" out, and who know what the other big-box manufacturers will have.

Nah - I really like what Tesla has done in principle for the Industry and public awareness...but they're not going to replace any car companies anytime, soon.

Yes, Tesla has had issues with Model 3 production. They recently laid off a bunch of people because they can't produce the cars in the numbers they thought they could. Tesla has helped to move the EV market somewhat toward mainstream.
