Chevy testing the 7th gen?!

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/07/...future-camaro/

It seems that Chevy is testing a very interesting 3rd gen. Some interesting points from the article:

- It's wearing manufacturer plates
- It's got a 6-speed (wasn't offered for the 3rd gen during production)
- It sounds like a small block V8 under the hood
- Interesting hood modification
- Quad exhaust
- Some additional stickers and badging to indicate it's a test mule

Is this the first sighting of a 7th gen Camaro mule testing? If so, it would seem to indicate that we will get another IC engine, and another manual transmission option! I'm very excited about what this could mean, but what do you all think?

This test car was spotted years ago before the 6th Gen launched as well. It's just a GM captive car used for testing for some reason.

I would bet it's testing parts , maybe like that clutch by wire GM recently patented . It does look like the new C8 exhaust system on there , maybe Chevy Performance parts will be offering something for the 6th gen Camaro .

Shaker hood? Please let there be an LT5 under the hood.

I could be wrong, but I thought the 3rd gen they used previously before the 6th gen launched was a red one. That one was also sporting a different hood than this one.

It was red. This was caught with the other test cars in July 2015

That looks very much like an older Borla quad-tipped exhaust.

Completely agree with the idea that it's being used to test new parts and tech. But I don't know if it would be for 6th gen offerings. As to your point about the exhaust, I may be missing something you are seeing or referring to, but that doesn't look like the C8 exhaust. The C8 exhaust is very distinctly 4 sided tips, and this car has something with very distinct 8 sides on each tip. Also, the C8 and 6th gen Camaro have the dual exhaust staggered to mirror the curve of the cars. This set up shows that the dual exhaust are perfectly side-by-side.

Of course, I could be way off base here and it's possible that this all is nothing. But I can't help feeling hopeful. I really want to see a 7th gen Camaro soon after the 6th gen. And I really want one with a manual offered. I'm gonna keep the faith a bit longer...

Thank you for finding that. These are for sure two different cars. Besides the paint color and exhaust on them being different, the yellow one they are testing now has the ground effects package on it.

15 -20 years ago there was a yellow 3rd gen in GM High Tech Performance. they used it here in arizona at the test facility . They were quoted in the article saying they liked using 3rd gens because they were easy to work on and test parts, although it was more for aftermarket things like the crate engine's they sold.

I could see them doing this after the train wreck 6th gen refresh. Ahhhh the backlash fire everyone who worked on that refresh bring that back that will make them happy.

If they did am exact replica "outside" of the 69 and put in some modern interior but still kept the original sprit. I would buy 2....So fast.
