I think with a cam only you will loose some low end torque. With FI you will have lots of low end torque which is enjoyable at the street.

If I'm doing it again I will go with the AGP twin turbo kit.

You are correct, you don't "require" an aftermarket clutch or suspension upgrades. The only reason I mentioned that is the OP mention comparing a L99 and the cost of a aftermarket torque converter driving up the price of a cam install and saying he wished he had bought an LS3 due to that increase in cam swap cost.

Technically an aftermarket torque converter is not "required" on most cams. So if you dont need a clutch, You also dont need a converter.
It's "preferred" tho to optimize your set up.
Just like the majority of guys with LS3 cars will in fact at some point decide that the stock clutch and suspension is not making their combo efficient.

Has nothing to do with if I prefer an auto vs an LS3.
I do know that when you compare apples to apples the end cost is almost a wash on either. The LS3 will put down more power with less drivetrain loss. And the auto will put down less power with better efficiency.

Just trying to help the OP see that it's all good. Not to fret!

But just to be clear, at the "dragstrip" the auto is easier to ET!

Guess ill just pick it up a little at at time and piece it all together.
and to remove the whole manual VS auto thing...you don't NEED a torque converter and you don't NEED a upgraded clutch.

So remove 800 from there. On the L99 you still need to either do an LS3 conversion or run a VVT cam. Then hope to find a tuner that competent with tuning the VVT.

Don't worry....After a while you'll stop giving a f$#k about the cost and just want it done. It happens to everyone.

True.

My daily driven cam setup Denali escaladed into a VERY expensive paper weight

432rwhp wasn't enough $30k later 817rwhp wasn't doing anything for me either

Dennis Pm Rhino and he will tell you exactly what a VVT cam upgrade will cost. What you have to have, and what are optional upgrades. It's not quite as bad as you think.
You can go LS3 conversion and go with a bigger cam, or u can stay VVT and use the benefits of the VVT cam phaser to have the ability to advance and retard timing throughout the curve.
Rhino can help you tune it if you have access to just upload his tune.
