Two LT4 Z cars?
What is everyone thinking? Another ZL1 loaded with options and a Z28 with the FI LT4 and no options? I don't see another NA motor in the works, maybe the 1le is gone and they will do a light weight lt1 with aero and CC brakes and call it the Z28? I would hope they build just one Z car with an optional "track pack" similar to the Z07 on the vette, I know the NA motor is superior on the track and many prefer it but that didn't stop them with the Z06.

What did GM do with the Z06/ZR1 for C7?

I fear that is sound logic. Especially since the GT350 can be stripped via the R model or optioned. Z/28 and ZL/1 will mostly be 1 single car this go around. I would really like to see an LT4 ZL1 and the Z/28 following the same formula as the current car with a hot rodded na LT1 and a more agressive weight loss program. With the amount of weight savings alpha allows, they wouldnt even need to push the na LT1 beyond 475 ish hp to best the current car.

I would really hate to see the Z/28 come out like the Z06 with the LT4 but that's likely how it will happen.

I agree. The Z2/8 was an experiment. While it succeeded in the magazines, it ultimately failed miserably in sales. I don't think GM will repeat that mistake. It was more of a concept car than anything else.
I don't think we will see a 1LE, either. The base SS already outperforms the Gen 5 1LE, and let's not forget the Gen 5 1LE already outperforms the current gen Mustang. IMO both the Z2/8 and 1LE will be done away with. I anxiously await the ZL1.

I see both in the Gen 6. Too much vested in both. And too much linkage to Ford models. What will GM do to counter the GT500? Likely an LT4 powered wonderment. What will they compete with against the GT350? Either a very light weight CC braked LT4 powered superstar or an LTx powered lightweight track juggernaut. There will be 2.

In my opinion GM really put themselves in a corner with the Z28- now every one they come out from here on out will be compared to the monster they built, and it will ultimately have a low market/high price. What they should have done is called the ZL1 car a Z28, and the Z28 they built should have been called the ZL1. Not that I'm a marketing genius, but the Z28 name itself sells cars, but not when they are 76k for a Camaro.

I see just a ZL1 on the horizon. Like someone said the Z28 didn't sell well. They will probably stuff the LT4 in a ZL1. People want the high horsepower ZL1 over a track car. But I do wish they would call the high horsepower car the Z28 this time around.
