I test drove both. Loved the stang, liked the camaro. The stang had nav in it, and the brembo pack, the ss had the rs ss package but the interior wasn't doing it for me.

That said, I bought neither. Just holding on for next gen versions.

And the one on order is $67k, yikes! Both packages (perf and SVT), Recaros and a car cover.
for $67k, it probably has the elec/nav package as well.

I'm guessing this isn't the only mustang we will see with this 5.8L. Maybe in sc guise but ultimately, I hope they get this mill in a boss as an na mill. That'd be so bad ass.
The 5.8L used in the GT500 is a bored-over 5.4L.

Yeah my local dealer has a green boss on display. I've seen a huge increase in the amount of '13s in general. I guess Ford remodeled correctly this time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm also pretty sure that the new 5.8 is not a 351 ci 5.8. Was thinking 355ish?

354 CID, to be exact.

They removed the cast-iron liners and coated the cylinders instead.

You heard correctly regarding media week. I think the Ring numbers will depend on whether or not they got the numbers they were looking for. My bet is that the ZL1 will get to hold onto it's Ring time record, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

If it runs 7:50 or better ill be pleased. I bet they can get it to run 7:30's if they do a few things like the zl1 crew did to get the 7:41. Shaved tires, race spec pads, the little stuff that makes a big difference.

can't wait for the media results. So far, huge rave about the '13 GT500's Launch Control system. 2013 GT500 is the first GT500 ever to have one.

Did I miss these details somewhere?

I've raced quite a few of these on the track and have never seen one get remotely close to even mid 11's on drag radials.
I went to dragtimes where you can browse and compare and found about 10 supposedly bone stock GT500s posted and the fastest was 12.2 at 115 and the slowest was 12.98 at 112. The 12.2 posted a 1.81 60 foot time which makes me suspect drag radials...sme people would consider it stock with DRs. Just sayin, the average guy doesn't run 10s in a GT500...at least not bone stock. The 12.2 was run by a professional drag racer from Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords....Evan Smith and is probably not representative of what the average GT500 driver could run.

Hmm, don't want to stick my foot in my mouth, but it looks like Shelby did not hit the ZL1's ring time? With the Shelby rolling off the line this week, why would Ford be holding on to performance data?
