Correct. The teamsters/GM get the destination charge and the Museum gets the majority of the R8C charge. Its one way the Museum pays for its operating costs. Plus you get to be treated like a king for a day!

I have long thought the shipper got the destination charge fee and that neither GM nor Chevrolet got any part of it. I have never attempted to research this because, frankly, I do not know where to go unless possessing credentials/passwords that are beyond my sphere of influence.

The one charge no matter the destination is not a deal with the Teamsters - it is a deal with the individual franchisees. I remember when the destination charge was based on distance from the assembly plant, which was true in the sixties and for all decades preceding the sixties. May even the seventies, but those are years I may not accurately remember.

So if you bought a car in 1965 and took delivery from a dealer 30 miles from the plant you paid say $15 for shipping but if your dealer was say 3000 miles from the plant you paid $150 for shipping. This was when a Chevy cost $3000. a Corvette just over $4000 and a Cadillac as much as $5000, so $135 more may not seem too much today but then was a significant difference. Needless to say, the dealers wanted a more equitable arrangement and the one size fits all destination fee is the result.

Got mine delivered at the museum on Tuesday the 14 th. Let me say what an amazing experience! I would recommend this to any person who orders their car. The staff was great , friendly, and super helpful. The tour I had was with a man named Bobby and he was awesome. He was a corvette nut himself and was really informative on all aspects of corvette history. I am so glad I did the rc8 and here are some pics.
My only advice would be to go with the earlier tour so you can fit it all in for the day. Also my wife and father in law were the only ones there ( besides me) at that time so it felt very personal and VIP!

I just added Museum Delivery to my order and my dealer changed the whole damn order #, even though I was still at 1100 status. I may never see a 2014 in my garage.......at least they are keeping Crystal Red Tintcoat for the 2015 models.

Cool! You'll have a great time there. Be sure and have your spouse and any friends who are there take lots of pix! They'll make a fun addition to excitement and memories. And we want to see some of them!

Our CRT, vert, 3LS Z51 just went to 3800 yesterday. Pack your bags honey, we're headed to BG to bring our new baby home. Not so fast though. Our appointment is set for Monday June 16 at 7:45am. The next two weeks are going to go by soooo sloooowww.
