2011 Camaro LS
Hey guys I have a 2011 Camaro LS. Yesterday night I was bored and wanted to push my car so I put it in manual mode. As I'm going past 115mph a beeping noise came on and said limiter to 118 mph. I was told I would need a tune to take that off. Now the thing is my car is still under warranty I have just under 34k on it and I also have a K&N intake and that's it. What tune would you guys recommend I get that wont avoid my warranty, screw my car up and will give me more HP and speed.
Thanks.. |

I believe ANY tune will void your warranty.

Ugh, you know, I'm SO sick of that limiter, I can't get ANYWHERE on time at 115MPH. :(

Please stop driving recklessly on public roads. The rest of the world that values their lives and enjoys relatively low insurance rates thanks you.
An aftermarket "tune" will void the warranty on certain components. I'm not sure if GM is strict enough to void the warranty on the entire vehicle or just the ECM and powertrain. One of the reasons the limiter is on there is because the LS comes with stock (cheap) highway tires. Two things-- If you're running high speed, you should be on a track, AND, you should consider safety and buy a performance tire with the correct speed and heat ratings for the kind of driving you're doing. |

@Evergreen I do value my life. I am also an Allstate agent for 7 years. My insurance is very low not because I work for Allstate which I don't have for my insurance. I just have a very clean record for over 7 years. I also don't have those cheap 18in rims and tires. I have Niche 5 spoke black 20s with 4 brand new Yokohama tires. I just wanted to give it a little more power. I baby my car. Not like I speed and push my car to the limit everywhere I go.
@Njscorpio hahah I know what you mean man. |

The answer is you'll void your warranty with a speed-limiter tune. If it's worth removing that piece of mind for getting your car above 118 a couple times a season, go for it.
Sidebar: I have a clean driving record for over 12 years, does that make me any less of a threat on public roads at 118mph? Probably not, I'm not a racecar driver. Nonetheless, I have some trust my driving skills, but I don't trust that deer or other drivers will be predictable. If you get caught, you will be arrested. |

Just put some 4:50 gears in, then you'll never have to worry about hitting the governor.
Yes you will void the warranty. |

That's great advertising for Allstate, and you should know better than that. |

However, only a half-wit would profess to driving 118 mph AND claim to work for a major auto insurance company AND purport to not have the "cheap" stock 18" rims AND to "baby" their car yet push it to 118 mph (THAT is NOT "babying" one's car) AND, in the same breath, be concerned about voiding their Camaro's warranty AND is "pining" for MORE POWER. Have I missed anything or am I just misinterpreting what's on the surface and failing to identify a deeper meaning? If I recall, isn't there a statement somewhere in one of GM's innumerable documents filled with a seemingly unending plethora of "small print" that using the vehicle in a manner in which it is not intended, illegally or recklessly voids any and all warranties? "Racing" doesn't necessarily imply a "competitive" event. Speeding, in and of itself, could qualify, if GM wanted it to. Does anyone else see the irony here?
