16 ss 8spd procharged canned tune

Well we had our annual Friday Night Drags at Thunder Valley Drag Ways in Parker SD. Last year with Mishomoto Intake 700 miles My best time was 12.7 111mph.

Well fast forward a year later 2900 miles on the clock and Pro charged with Canned tune.

12.3 115mph was my best time did back to back 12.3 then heat soak set in as consistent 12.5's last 3 runs

Not sure what the deal is.. 60ft was 2.0 stock tires. Last year 60ft 1.9

DA were close last year 3200 this year 3400.

2015 ZL1 was running 11.3's 126mph on MT Slicks. Was really hoping that I would of stood a chance against him. I took him out of the hole reaction time but he then reeled me in and burned me.

Did smoke BMW M5 12.5 2005 Bolt on GTO 13.1 Modified Prelude 12.8

Going to take it to a Procharger dealer this fall once I can scrounge up the cash throw it on the dyno and see why life was so disappointing for me on the drag strip. I expected alot more :(

Strong ZL1. Wonder what he had done to run those times at that elevation and DA? Maybe your car is running what it should in those conditions?

Did you log your runs? Dyno numbers don't mean a thing going down the track. With no logs or data to look at it is all a guessing game. Blowers without meth in the summer time suck at the track from my personal experience. That IAT sensor is a killer, but for a good reason.

I also have the procharger canned tune. From all the research I have done, it is a very conservative tune. I have seen anywhere between 514rwhp and 53x's rwhp. All the dyno tunes I have seen is in the 58x's rwhp. I know hp numbers isn't everything, just wanted to pass along the little bit of knowledge I have seen. I have been to the track twice since having the procharger installed, My first run was 2.0 60ft, 7.9 at 93 mph. My second time was 2.0 60ft and 7.8 at 95mph. I do have a convertible so it weighs 200 or 300 pounds more than the coupe. Can't remember the DA off the top of my head though. I know it was a little less than 1,000.

See that is what I am wondering if its pretty conservative tune. Not sure how to read this DA Calculator. I do know if i lower my 60FT my et will drop but I am more worried about the MPH> I was expecting a good 120 or higher I mean stock with just a intake last year I ran 111mph at 3200 da's.. You think even a conservative 100whp would bring my MPH to 119 or higher.

Or am i dreaming?

Density Altitude:

Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines

Few years back I had a 2003 Mustang Cobra with a Whipple. I ran 2.0 60ft best time was 11.5 it was tuned and made 580whp and 590wtq could never launch it but i always ran 125mph consistent no matter the wheel spin.. I just want to beat my old Cobra times!!

This goes back to my point. My cam only C5Z ran 11.20@124 with 405rw. I put a procharger on and at 10 psi made 632rw. Car ran 11.10@130 in same weather. When it got hot the car ran 12's at under 120. It was slower than stock. The 230rw I saw on the dyno at 12* of timing didn't show crap at 5* of timing once the IAT's climes and the engine compensared. Plus with no timing it ran rich as crap. Blower dyno numbers look good but don't translate to trap speed unless the car is set up correctly.

Yeah, I need to figure out how to log runs.. Not good with tuning etc. Me and my buddy put the Procharger on ourselves.. I can turn a wrench but when it comes to computers timing tuning etc.. I am clueless.. I see what you are saying that the computer will pull timing if to hot and probably why I had issues. As I drove the car 40 miles interstate speeds to the track only let it cool down about 15 minutes before I did back to back runs.. Then cooled it for 30 minutes and did 4 back to back runs. Then left for the night. The local procharger dealer/has his own tune shop was at the event. Gave me his card and said he will get me in the 11's if I bring it to him for a tune. So, I guess I will see. His Procharged Mustang was running 10.2's 130mph that night so i guess I see what he can do for me this fall specially since he said he comes to all these events to support his cars he tunes. That has my attention.

Yours aren't too off from my M6. 12.8@113 at Gateway on Thursday. I don't know what the DA was, but I was severely traction handicapped since it's gone 11.35@125 on the slicks.

ProCharger doesn't do anything with the TQ management in their tune. This becomes an issue when the engine makes 125-150% of the N/A engine. The PCM cannot put the power down as it should. Plus the street tires are nowhere near capable of holding the power. Even with "launch control" active, the PCM couldn't keep my tires from spinning in first or second. Once you get the opportunity to get a real tune, I would. Mine should be going to a local guy in a week or two to get straightened out.

Hot lapping the car also kills the times. The heat builds very quickly and doesn't have anywhere to go under our hoods.

Josh, sorry your having problems. Lots of others are having problems getting the procharger to run at the track. I have another buddy that can't get his into the 11's either and his made 580 at the wheels. Your never gonna make any good runs on street tires.
Sorry I missed you CD, I was trying a new tune in mine at gateway and missed the mark since the DA was about 3800 and temps were 94 or so. I ran two time on 11.03 and 11.05. I went back and put my old tune in that I ran 10.78 and I was about 4 cars back from my time to run and it started pouring down. That suck, glad you go into the low 11's.

So, what do you guys think should be my next mod I can only do 1 this year.. Welds with drag radials as i need to drive to the strip so couldn't use slicks as its a 40 min drive. Priced around 1700 OR do you think custom tune and straight piping axle back to help airflow. $1200. I really want to hit mid 11's at this track.

My bolt on 5th gen ran 11.56@120 while a supercharged 5th gen went 12.90 lol the power is cool but I think all in all a well sorted bolt on car is where the fun is at.

Procharger's tune is made to work for every car they send it out to. That means the same tune is going on a car that is high in the Rockies where the air is thin, to down in Texas in the heat of summer, to a car up north in the dead of winter. It will never be optimal. Get your car tuned, whether it's locally or remotely, and it will be much better off.

If it were me...find a cheap set of stock wheels, throw some 20" drag radials on them, and get a real tune. You don't need a slick with an auto, you can get by on a drag radial.

You can probably pick up just 2 rears for under $400 (I've even seen sets of 4 stock wheels go for $500-600, but they get snagged up quick). Adding in the drag radials would put you around $1,000, throw in the tune and you are under $2,000 which was in the same ballpark as your Welds option. This also address both of your issues.

Go with the Tune. I had the wheels and Slicks before I bought the ProCharger, and I would have bought the Tuner kit and probably gotten the P1X had I known then what I know now. I think you'll be way better off getting the tune done, then worry about wheels/tires. I don't think straight piping the axle back is going to give you anything other then noise.
