Remember, wear and tear is not covered under warranty no matter how long it is. If things don't break in properly they can wear out early and it will be 100% out of your pocket. And really, even if it was covered, do you really want to have to take your car in for a really long repair just because you couldn't wait 1 week to do a burnout? An engine rebuild will put your car in the shop for a very long time. Then you are completely without your Camaro and will have to go through the hassles of rental cars...etc.

After thinking about it some more, from my meager experience and knowledge, it seems to be more logical to be a little aggressive during the break-in than to p*ssy-foot it around. I'm not thinking 6500 RPM clutch-drops or something like that, but exactly what was in the article. This is some great information!

............"break-in" is also referring to the rearend. You need several warm up/cool down cycles to properly mate the pinion to the ring gear...........

I believe Mobil 1, 5w-30,will come standard in the engine, which is, as many of you know, is a fully synthetic lubricant from GM. (So much for using "regular oil during break-in procedures!)

There is no "10 year/100,000" mile warranty........

1. Bumper to bumper" for 3 years/36,000 miles

2. Powertrain: 5 years/50,000 miles (Engine/Transmission/Transaxel/Transfer
case and Drive Systems(axel shafts, bearings, CV joints etc.)

Hope this helps clear up some mis-conceptions that a few of you may have.

You're both part right. The powertrain warranty is 5yr/100,000 mile.

what they tell you when you first buy a motor cycle is to beat the piss out of it on your way home and go home and change the oil and that is the break in period. i dont know if i feel the same way about doing that to cars.
