Yes and No.
Yes to some people, No to others. It's up to you to decide what you want a car for, and which one will fit your needs the best at whatever price point. Is the Ferrari FXX-K really worth the extra two and a half million dollars or so over a ZL1? Could be. To the right person. I love it just for the sounds it makes I'm just short a couple million bucks. |

I think that it just comes down to: Is any car worth $$,$$$ over X car. If 455HP or 335HP or 275HP are not enough, will 650HP be enough? Just for the record, I am so completely glad that I have my SS already. I would have probably been one of the folks chomping at the bit for the ZL1, otherwise. Maybe I just saved myself from myself.

Is it really 30k more? Sure if your willing to pay the premium and are happy. Really looking forward to the ZL1 with the A10 and hoping it delivers. Planning to put one next to the SS.

Yes!!! It is. Just like the Z06 is $30k worth more than a Z51. No way can you drive a Zl1, then be happy with a SS. Not gonna happen.

The real question is most people that buy the ZL1 will they actually ever use the full 650 horsepower? Probably not. Most of them will be Garage and car show queens. A few guys with deep pockets will track them . But very few. If its a car can truly aford then go for it. It will be an awesome Camaro. For me 455 horsepower SS that only weights 4670 lbs or whatever is a great horsepower to weight ratio and the new SS especially with upgrades like 6 piston breaks like my car came with is already a great track car and an amazing street car. Buying a car tou cant aford will make owning it miserable no matter how great a car it is. My Camaro SS with factory options was msrp $43k i could not imagine spending any more then that let alone $30k more. Obviously if your stupid rich that doesn't matter.

Several years back I had a much better paying job and if I still had it, I'd probably not bat an eye at getting a ZL1. But since that's no longer the case, I just can't justify a $65K car. I probably could afford one but it would eat up way too much money unless I just kept saving for another 2 years and put up a huge down payment.
I know I wouldn't track the car and while the bragging rights are there, it's a hefty price for MOST people to drop on a car. The price difference between a 1SS and a ZL1 could get you another brand new car.

Yes it is worth it! And if you have to ask this question you will never understand why.
