Does this sound like a bad lifter to anyone?
2011 SS (manual), Car has 72k miles, never missed an oil change.
After starting the car to drive back home, it started to make the noise you can hear in the video, car was already up to temperature, I checked the oil level and it looks completely fine and clean. The noise kept up with the RPMs, and I want to say you could hear it more from under the car by where the flywheel meets the engine. After about 3 min of very light driving the noise went away. Should I prepare my wallet for the repair? Keep using the car or park it and get it to a mechanic? |

Exhaust leaks do that. They'll go away after the surrounding medium warms up and expands, sealing the offending leak.

Lifter failures don’t fix themselves. They can be a little noisy at first start up of the day as they re prime with oil for a few seconds but other than that once they start tapping they don’t really stop. I’d bet danial is onto something with an exhaust leak, the headers, manifold, pipe, gaskets etc. gets hot, swells a bit and seals the leak.

Yep, the manifold to block gaskets in my old 2018 Sierra 2500 started doing the same thing in the winter time around 80,000 miles.

If you don't already have one, go get you a $20 OBD II/EOBD+CAN car diagnostic tool and see if it's throwing codes. Here's the one I bought a few years ago. Works great. Clears codes as well.

Plugged in the scanner. No codes at all. I tried to get as far under the car as I could and took this other video. https://youtu.be/v4LNiK27DH0 |
