Bent/Stuck valve??

So the other day I was taking my father for a ride and I turned on a back road and decided to give it the beans. Went from first gear to second and then missed 3rd and accidentally put it back in first Well shortly after, i got the stabilitrak service light and a CEL. Luckily enough i was only a mile or two from home. I scanned the CEL and got a P0305(misfire 5th cylinder) well after changing all the plugs and moving the coil pack around i still got a code for a misfire. Ive verified that i am getting strong spark. So that leads me to believe that i over-reved and possibly damaged a valve? Has anyone else experienced this?

2011 Camaro 1ss, long tube headers, flowmaster exhaust, CAI, hurst short shifter,Skip-shift eliminator, tuned.

pull the valve cover and the rockers on cylinder 5. I just had the same thing happen. Not missing a shift but the symptoms you described. Turned out to be a bent pushrod.

Was it pretty obvious what was wrong when you initially removed the valve covers?

I got this far tonight, had to take care of some other things. Going to pull the rockers tomorrow and check the pushrods.

The Wall...how high were the rpm's in 1st? you hope the p/r is just bent...also you still have the yellow beehives, you can upgrade to the GM blue or go PAC/PSI for additional future peace of mind...what is the mileage on the motor?

The rocker with the bad pushrod had some slop to it because the pushrod bending created some slack.

I couldn't tell you exactly what rpm, it was just a pretty hard down shift. I'll look into the upgraded valve springs. Just passed 36,000miles the other day.

When removing the rocker, does the piston need to be at a certain point? Tdc? Or does it not matter?

try to rotate the motor where both intake and exhaust look like they are full up...less spring pressure...only need to worry if pulling the springs...good luck take your time..

Instead of pulling the rocker, I ended up checking compression and doing a leak test. I ended up with 0psi in cylinder #5 and for comparison I did #3 and got 120psi. This was done with the engine cold. I then did the leak test on cylinder #5 and I can hear it leaking from the intake valve. I checked #3 and it's air tight. So looks like I'm going to be pulling the head off.

Well found my problem tonight, looks like a bent pushrod. Very minor, thinking I can get away with replacing pushrods.
