Unlike 5th gen, my understanding is you will get the exact same AFM LT1 engine, regardless of which transmission you choose. I thought the whole reasoning behind not using AFM on manual equipped cars was the auto TC would buffer some of the jarring effects of the cam shifting around, but apparently that is no longer an issue.

True, but most every subsequent model year has some sort of 'tweaks' or enhancements so it's always a gamble.

There will always be something newer or flashier regardless. If you like what you see you should pull the trigger. Sometimes, the next model year drops some things - not always but it happens.

Buy what you like and can afford then drive it!

Sounds like you had more trouble than the norm. That sucks! I wouldn't say this is the rule.

I only make 55k and not married no kids. I can easily afford my 830 house payment and 500 for my truck. Got a few toys as well. Can go out whenever I want within reason.

That's a crazy conservative number!

ON 55K? Holy crap! That super low house payment would be nice!

It was built in June of 2009 during the GM bankruptcy restructuring, so I'm thinking a lot of disgruntled line workers doing things half assed! Just my theory.

Well I typically bring home a little over 3k month after taxes. House and car payment don't even take up half that. Then just got your basic cable, propane and electric. Enough gas and food for one person. And a dirtbike and snowmobile that are payed for. And I usually have 3-500 left every month for savings. And I only work 36-38 hours a week . I could make up to about 70 k if I worked more and picked up call etc ( medical field X-ray ). I would rather make less and have a life.

Making 55 k single is like making 110k when married. And then after 2 kids and married it's like making 150 lol.

My mortgage is 2.9% fixed apr 30 year. Got the house when the market was at very bottom.

Despite the fact that I posted something on here agreeing that a First Year Model is not what it used to be years ago and are very reliable these days (and I probably will get myself a 2016), there is one really good reason some may want to wait until 2017 to buy their next Camaro.

In 2017 the Camaro will be 50 Years Old, and I am certain they will have some special edition because of it.

My wife's 2014 early production impala has had ZERO problems for the last 2 years. I wouldn't worry about it.

In addition, the ATS platform has been out for a few years now. So The chassis and the motor offerings are pretty much sorted. The only thing really different is the interior trim.

Only 5 new cars purchased myself. No issues with the new 2010 SS OR 2013 SS. My NEW Rubicon though. That's a 14 and lots of issues, buts it's a jeep. I dumped my 13 waiting for the white or hyper blue SS I'll be ordering ASAP. So the jeep was just an experiment with a vehicle that's holds its value very well.

Love. You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Rattles. I think the mechanical components are probably solid, but fit and finish issues, as well as the 0.001% of things that never happen, will happen to someone. Hence TSBs. But I would think rattles/squeaks would probably be the more prevalent, as opposed to mechanical failures.

Just the opposite.

First model year nowadays has the best interior.

They want to launch a nice car then slowly take money out of it. I've owned plenty of first year cars and just somethings you run into when you go look at later model years:
  • Dash padding is thinner
  • seat bottoms are shorter
  • seats have more cloth/vinyl and less leather
  • Places where there were screw and fastener covers are no longer there
