Rumor: Only top dealers to receive 2014 Corvette Stingray allocations
Automotive News reports that GM is requiring a dealer to have sold a minimum number of Corvettes in prior years to be able to sell the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
According to one dealer, that threshold is four Corvette sales in the past year. That may rule out many dealerships across the country. Hopefully this turns out to be false. The 2014 Corvette Stingray goes on sale in Q3. |

I'm pretty sure the same dealership that I purchased my Camaro from will have multiple allocations. The problem is, if they sell the Stingray like they sold the Camaro, there's no way they'll ever agree to MSRP, at least on the first round of allocations.

The Automotive News story is accurate that not all dealers
will have the opportunity initially. The guidelines were clearly communicated to dealers early last year. Although initial allocation numbers, ordering info has not, as of yet, been fully officially communicated. The allocation process is very complex, dictated by supply, demand, and build capability. The best is always have a clear understanding, and communication with the dealer in the process. |

My local dealer told me this past weekend that the number of 13 corvettes they sold determined the amount of 14s they got. I'm not sure if its completely true but those were the words from the manager

It's actually determined by the number of new retail Corvette sales in the 2012 Calendar year sales period (which is defined as January 2, 2012 through January 2, 2013) regardless of the model year.

It's gonna be pretty hard press to sell C6's etc with all the people flooding in wanting C7's unless they can give killer deals on the C6's

C6s are already $10K off MSRP, so now they might get even cheaper!

We were told 2014 Allocation is going to be based on Corvette sales for the 12 month period of Sept 2011 to Sept 2012. We had this multiple times from multiple sources. This is the time period that smaller dealers had to sell 4 in as well.

I think it's part of the customer service aspect. Dealers that sell more Corvettes probably know more about them and specialize in them.
It always better for the customer when the workers actually know about the car. |
