Stucjk at 3000? Now we know why.
Now we know where the exposed GF roofs are going. This is what I was afraid of:
CorvetteBlogger: Have the Corvette Stingray Premiere Editions started production yet? John Fitzpatrick: “They have. I think we’ve built a hundred of them already. we’ve just done the coupes so far. We are going to do a convertible edition and the convertible Premiere Edition will obviously start when Convertible production starts later in the fourth quarter.” GM would rather make sure they get their "Premiere Edition" out in time than build customer sold cars. Sad.....the pre order customers are they die hards....the same guys that will serve as ambassadors for the Corvette. Most will be hitting the clubs and shows, yet GM discounts them for a silly special edition who's claim to fame is Luggage included??????? Just not a good move and many remember these things come the next time to buy.

GM can do whatever they want with regards to selection of which orders to build. If this is true, it is not how I would run my business. The customer should come first.
I understood sold orders were the priority. These are not. These cars are just going to sit in dealer show rooms for the next 6-12 months. If they could have spread out the production over, say, September and October it would not have impacted customer sold orders as much. |

I agree 100%. I own a manufacturing business, believe me if I treated loyal customers in this manner I would not be around long. I deal with material shortages all the time, however I have contingency plans in place and 99.4% my customers never feel them. I would never think of putting off paid orders from longtime customers for new business.
I often preach to my managers about unintended consequences.

I agree as well. Total Bulls''t. Its just another extra car the dealer can sell. Word is dealers pressured GM to making them because they supposedly didn't have a demo car to show customers. We all know that was BS. Anyhow this how the new Government motors is ran guys. SORRY.

And seriously folks, this happens with EVERY manufacturer. Even the Camaro had rental fleet units built first at launch before sold orders. People were pissed about that too but oh look, nobody cares anymore.

I remember that rental car controversy. At least t was a controversy until the first wave of 5th Gens reached the customers' driveways.
And have we forgotten the one V6 Camaro per Chevy dealer whether the dealer wanted it or not thus stretching out the time it took for the V8 pre-orders to be built? Laborsmith |

I’m a CEO and President of a company in Indiana (not automobiles) and I’m not very thrilled about the wait as well because I want my stingray bad, been stuck at 3000 since July 17th, however let’s look at this at a different perspective. In reality whether you like it or not the true customer to the manufacture is in fact the dealer selling the product and you and I are the customer of the dealer, the dealer chooses what they’re going to order and when (or allowed) . You are invoiced by the dealer and the dealer is invoiced by the manufacture. It’s no different for my company I order the product from the manufacture and then sell it to the public, and if there are issues with that product then I deal with keeping my customers happy and then I deal with the manufacture to get my product I’ve ordered and sold to my customers, my customers don’t have any dealings with the manufacture, otherwise they could just purchase the items directly from the manufacture and they wouldn’t need my company. Not to say my customers can’t contact the manufacture to complain about my company or how I handle things. Fortunately I have very happy customers not because of the manufacture but me as their dealer. No doubt that if the product is spectacular it makes my job much easier in pleasing my customers.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is if you have issues it should really be with your dealer they are who you write that check to, you just like the product they’re selling. Just my thoughts don’t shoot me! |

I actually buy between 2 and three new GM vehicles a year between personal and business. I guess in the big scheme I am still just a little customer to them. This will be my last new Corvette as for the money after mods I am close to the Italian price range anyway. Shame as I have always been a diehard Buy American kinda guy my whole life. But why do so much business with a company who could care less about their customers? When my daughter turned 16 back in January I bought her a BMW 328i rather than a GM product for the same reasons. Like a dumb clod I figured the Corvette rollout would be different and order one anyway.

I had the pleasure of sitting in premiere edition #16 it's a Laguna blue Z51 with brownstone interior!!!! I can know that car was built before production started so as far as sold orders goes those cars have nothing to do with how soon your car gets built!!! But you guys are funny to watch I will give you that!!!

I have no contractual obligation to the dealer I preordered my vette from, If I find another dealer that has what I want, I can purchase it for the right negotiated price. 1000 vettes hit the street last week, I'm sure they weren't all presold so we can look and see if what we want is available. Me, I would rather take care of my loyal customer's and some dealers have no choice in deciding their fate here, that is what makes this entire process sad. Good dealers trying to do the right thing with their loyal customer's are getting screwed over a national rank. |

My dealer said the exposed carbon fiber roof is current on constraint. This is confusing because I understood because I placed my order early in the 1st consensus, it didn't apply.
Now they build 100 Premier Editions in the same color I ordered with the exposed carbon fiber roof. I think, gee, one of those roofs should have gone to my order not a car that was ordered by a dealer after my order was accepted. The Premier Edition was not even announced when my order was booked. The dealer only says "we have no control over the build schedule" or "carbon fiber roof is on constraint". Frustrating when you see them all over the place. |

I did not know any Premiere Edition Stingrays had been delivered to dealers.

If they indeed built 100 Premier Edition cars, they are all Laguna Blue with exposed carbon fiber roofs. My order is Laguna Blue with exposed carbon fiber roof. So, thinking logically, that roof could have been allocated to my order rather than a car that can only be ordered by a dealer. The Premier Edition was announced weeks after they started taking orders, so how do they leapfrog my order? |
