Gawd... I thought the normal 180HP Civic Sport was awful to look at! This is worse even if it has over 300HP!

Must be a Transformer Car from their new movie. Surely cannot be a car that is sold to the public?!?!?

Not a fan of the design but all the rumour mills are pointing to the new civics being underrated from the factory. It's going to get real interesting in the econobox league.

I just can't wrap my head around ALL the fake mesh and vents. It's a design catastrophe.
The engine is looking to be a monster, but the early drive reviews are lukewarm at best. The car appears to be less than the sum of its parts.

Haven't people on here bought 2.0 Camaros' for near 10k less than the civic's starting price?!
No thanks...looks like a comic book car

Price wise, the performance you get is worth it (fastest FWD ever tested at the N), but it will only attract true Civic boy racers looking like it does.

I wouldn't drive it, personally - I'd look like an idiot at my age, and I can't think of any reason I'd buy any trim level of Civic in the first place, aside from maybe for one of my kids.
That said, although I don't like all of the design choices, I love that manufacturers are making bold moves on vehicle design. This may not be the style that members on this board typically appreciate, but bold design is good, or we end up with the jellybean styling that was pervasive from 1995 til 2010 or so. This is an evolution of the angular design theory that's been showing up in cars since, ah 2012 or so maybe. So I say, you do you, Honda peeps. |

agreed. The hot hatch cars are a totally different market but props to Honda for going after it. IMO it's good that automakers still want to make fun/performance cars

The Civic R is a significant achievement in performance for a car that also functions well as a family car and DD. The wild ass looks are well...a matter of taste. Some like love and many hate it but you really can't ignore it.
As a former owner of a couple of Civics, I have to say I would like to give it a spin. |

I would take the civic type r over the turbo camaro. Now the Autox concept, that's a different story
