Replacing PZeros in the rear, again!!

So as I posted in ET's post, the Conti DWS tires seem to be sold out everywhere with no one knowing when they'll be available....great. So I needed a set of new rears at 13,100 miles on my 1SS, it's my daily driver. The PZeros handled well but I wanted an all season tire that would hopefully last more than that. I ended up with the Hankook Ventus AS RH07 from Discounttiredirect.com and had them put on Saturday. Today I took my first real trip in them (to and from work about 20 miles total) and I hated them. The car felt unstable and didn't corner well, not sure if it is the mix of the PZero tires up front and the all season Hankook in the rear but honestly it's awful, don't get them. Discounttiredirect.com will refund me the money for the tires and pay to have them sent back but I have to order a whole other set first, have those put on and THEN I'll finally get my money back.

Anyone have any tire recommendations outside of the PZeros which handle well? I wasn't a fan of Stabilitrak chiming in today on my drive home as the rear end wanted to go everywhere but the direction I intended. The car would probably do some serious drifting but my commute to work isn't a skid pad....

From what I hear and read, what you experienced is typical for all season tires on the SS.

Some tires take some time to develop what I've herd Call a ( roll ). I have had this happen on some trucks when I replaced the tires. With some time the tires settle in or get broken in. But If you really don't like them try the Pirelli Pzero Nero MS . I had them on my Lexus GS 300awd . They were very nice.

My Hankooks took about a week to break in. They where real sloppy at first but after the settled in corner well and all. They have lasted 10K so for versus my P-Zero's only lasting 8500 miles.

I have Hankooks on my mustang. Never had an issue. Maybe the Camaro is diffrent. I was actually thinking of going with those myself because it's time to replace the rears. Front still look brand new at 18000 miles. And they have never been spun.

Mmm, interesting stuff. I'll be heading to work soon, so maybe I'll punish them on the way in and see how they behave after work, supposed to top 100 today in DC so we'll see if they stick.

Oh yeah I beat the heck out of my rear tires. I never leave a stop light slow, get to the speed limit as quickly as I can

Try the Nitto INVO tires next time around. They make the proper 245 and 275 widths and diameters for the OEM wheels. MUCH better tire than the Pirelli.

I personally wouldn't put Hankook (or Sumitomo) tires on my vehicles. Had them in the past, both were junk. From experience, I try to stick with BFG, Nitto, or Pirelli when possible.

I just put NEXEN N3000's on my rears at just over 15K mi. (27540ZR20, 106Y) and they seem to be fine. Mine is my daily driver as well, haven't driven with them in the rain yet...only been on a week, however they do seem to grip well. Treadware rating is 340. Not as expensive as Pirelli's.

Yokohama Prada-X all seasons go on my car in the winter. I found them to be excellent last year.

Any experience with the Conti's?

that hankook tire you put on is a SUV tire... one of the luxuries of having huge OEM wheels/tires is they fit on SUV's as well.

go with what NineBall said, the Nitto INVO is a great tire. i'm having trouble deciding between them and the OEM pirelli's when i change mine.

9000 miles and mine still have about 50% tread on all 4 corners. i try not to peel out, but i definitely drive it harder than other vehicles.

Thanks for everyone's response, I decided to go with a set of Nitto Invo's. Discount tire direct is sending them out to me today from AZ, should be a few days before the make it to DC. For the guys who have the Hankook tires, what pressure are you running them at? If I recall the sidewall says they are rated for 50 psi or more, running mine at around 38 right now, could this be the problem?
