Camaro SS 1LE skip shift?

Hello everyone I bought a 2018 SS 1LE a few days ago and I knew it had skip shift but sometimes when I drive it it feels like it wants to block out 2nd gear on me. I wasn’t sure if it was just me not being used to the clutch and the whole car yet but I googled and I didn’t see a definite answer but does the skip shift really block out 2nd gear?

Yes, it does. A gate closes and the shifter will be directed to fourth gear. A message on the dash also comes up when this is activated.

Does the skip shifter eliminator void any warranties?

When I do get the message it only locks me out of 2nd gear about 30% of the time.

It physically blocks out 2nd and 3rd as well. Had an eliminator on my 01 SS for 6 years and never had warranty issues. Not sure if they didn't notice or didn't care.

Depends on your rpm, etc. Hold first slightly longer to skip the skip. Most of the time I never know it's there because I don't drive like a granny.

It does not block you from going into 3rd. When I feel it going into 2nd, I push up into third.

The message on the dash stays on too long. Once you reach a certain speed, the gate opens but the message remains.

It only kicks in for a specific throttle input range, for a specific speed range. If I happen to get the message, I'll usually either hold first gear for a few extra MPH or apply just a hair more throttle and the message goes away.

That's interesting. I know my old T-56 would block 3rd. I thought I'd be slick and shift from 1st right into 3rd, it would have none of it.

I think that was my problem. It usually didn't come on and I'd forget about it. The 1 time every 2 weeks it did happen, it surprised me.

It does not block 3rd. I thought about the eliminator, but have learned how to get around it.

As mentioned it's a pretty tight window for it to actuate. I'd guess that 95% of us drive the car in a way that it never presents an issue. On times when it actually kicks in, I just shift to 3rd.

SHIFT TO 3RD! Much less of a jerk than 4th is. On the plus side ... it saved us a grand or so on paying the gas guzzler tax.

I assume the the Zl1 doesn't have this feature though?
