Is my dealership messing with me?

I've been excited to order my Corvette for the past 6 months and was ready once with the Z51 constraint started. Perfect timing. I called over 6 dealerships in my area to see if any could order a Z51 but they all said they could place an order but I'd be waiting for a few months before allocation opened up. There was one dealership, Pohanka Chevrolet in Chantilly that said they had allocation and that my car would start being built right away. I put a 5,000 dollar deposit on 11/04/2013 and made them sign that they would refund me if the car didn't come by 05/05/2014 (6 months). however they assuered me I don't have to worry and that my car would be in before March 1st.It's been about two months now and I'm still at the 1100 code.

Am I right to assume they didn't have an allocation when taking my order? I'm not sure why they said it wouldn't matter with the Z51 constraint? Since it's still at the 1100 code they should have no problem refunding my the 5,000 right? Your thoughts are appreciated

I wouldn't sweat it yet, you just put the order in last month.

Agreed with zimm888... Enjoy my timeline posted below..
Things seem to be opening up a lot at this point other then the exposed CF Roof's. I've waited FOREVER for the comp seats... It will be worth the wait.

Call Mike Furman at Criswell Chevy. He has dozens of new C7s on his lot now. And he only requires a $1000 deposit for orders.

I ordered mine from Mike on Sep 24th. The order was accepted on Oct 26 and it was built on Dec 4th. I picked it up at the Museum on Dec 16th and have driven it almost every day since. I ordered the Z51, 2LT, 7-speed Manual Transmission, Torch Red exterior, Adrenaline Red interior, Red Calipers, Carbon Fiber Instrument Panel Dash, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, MyLink Navigation, Black Wheels, Dual-mode Performance Exhaust, and Corvette Museum delivery.

I think the larger the dealer, the faster you will get your car.

I ordered a 3LT Z51 AFTER you (put the $2k deposit down on about 11/12), and got it yesterday. My dealer is medium/small sized. I was the 5th C7 he sold.

So either something else that you ordered is on constraint (carbon fiber whatever or competition sport seats), or the dealer's not being straight with you and he's waiting for allocation.

BTW, I paid about 1500 under sticker, so don't let them jack you on the price either.

I ordered my 3LT Z51 convertible with competition seats 110 days ago. Have been placing weekly followuo calls with the sales manager, to no avail. Today the salesman called and said the dealership was not getting the allocation. Time to move on. At least my deposit is being refunded.

Thank you all for the replies. I just spoke with my dealership and the manager was so mad and rude! He literally hung up in my face twice. I was polite and just want my deposit back so that I can order elsewhere. The manager said he'll refund my money "when he feels like it" and then promised to have it refunded by January 1. We'll see!

Thanks again!

I agree with the others. I gave up on my dealer that I put a deposit with in July. I called Mike at Chriswell (they are 3rd largest Corvette dealer in U.S.) and put a $1000 refundable deposit early Nov. My Z51 Vert is at 3400 and should be in my hands by the end of Jan. the larger dealers get their cars much faster. That's just the way it is.

If the dealer did have allocation. It should be in status 2000-3000 within 2 weeks.

The larger dealers do not get their orders filled faster but they do have more order allocations every weekly ordering cycle so it seems they do.

Ya this is what I thought. I placed my order with them based on their claim that they had allocation. I just want my money back now!

Guide numbers - what a dealer may expect to be allocated over a period of time, usually a model year but if the product is successful may be revised.

Allocation - what a dealer may be able to order over the course of two order cycles, one cycle per week.

A dealer may have a number left to order from the guide number but can not predict just when that will come up in the bi-weekly consensus. There are patterns, so approximate times can be guessed but an allocation may come both quicker or later and no one knows for sure until it happens.

FWIW, I went there in early December, and they told me they were not taking orders and had no allocations. Same story with Koons in Tysons. So I started looking out of state.

Dealer in Dallas

Hey Noname,

I'm currently working with a few dealers in the Dallas area for a 2014. What dealer did you buy from and how did you achieve the below MSRP?

What color did you get?

Thanks in Advance,
Danny
