honestly there's really no use for 400+hp and 400lb/ft of torque on public roads. do you enjoy driving your car? can you afford the payments? that's all that matters my man

Still, I wanted to be like, "Well, so and so has the same 0-60...or blah blah has the same power to weight ratio"...but I didn't want to come off like I'm trying to justify my car. :P

Well, you never did tell us, why did you buy the V6 and not the V8 ? do you drive 40 miles to work each day ?

Was the extra cost of the V8 not in the budget ?

Myself, I chose the V6 because our Truck gets 15MPG and I didn't want to look like a dork in a Cruise or Malibu .

Also, it gets driven 50 miles per day minimum, quite a bit cheaper than the truck.

I believe my 87 Camaro had a 83 or 82 corvette engine, and it was rated at 190HP !!!! but hey, I had the V8 so I was far supior than any mortal driving a v6 .

You can say your faster than alot of old V8s! Just not faster than the new V6 family sedans lol --- sorry had to.

To someone elses point though -- Tell those people to go F themselves and enjoy what you got. As someone always says on here ask them how fast their Camaro is!

Saying your car is faster than something made in the 80s is like saying that you can beat your Grandmother in a foot race....yeah you MIGHT win, but who is impressed or cares?

Speed is relative to the time period you were in. It's the same for most things. Computers are faster, athletes are faster, planes are faster etc...

If I were you I would start using something else to prove your point.

That being said, I will usually poke a bit of fun at a v6 Camaro, but only in a friendly way. Hell--the specific output of the V6 is far superior to the specific output of the V8 and it's definitely a more efficient engine.
To be fair, specific output is just a number to make you feel good and has almost no real merit anyways.

I drive about 70 miles each day, and I also have a heavy foot. I knew I'd be on the low end of the V6 fuel efficiency. Plus, while I could have afforded a higher mileage SS, that difference per month is better utilized elsewhere right now.

Relative to a SS, that's what it is. Relative to a majority of cars on the road... it's show and go. The person that said it probably drives a Corolla S.

How are you people getting such awful mileage? I get (with mainly stop and go driving and some freeway) between 17 and 18 week in week out. I've seen 18.2 or so very rarely and under 17 a bit more commonly if I really get on it a bit. With normal driving however 17.6-17.8 is my usual at fill up

Someone said "thats not a v8! its a v6" to me recently when we were out..
My drunk girlfriend just said THANK YOU (she probably had no idea what he was saying)

it was funny because.. yeah, thank you.. for even noticing and commenting on my ride.

Besides that I get compliments daily...1 negative comment compared to multiple positive comments from people offsets it.

My first car was an '83 Camaro Sports Coupe with the 2.8 liter engine. That car made 107 hp and did a quarter in about 18 seconds. I remember hearing the same stuff back then and getting angry about it. These days that's still the car I have the fondest memories of...
