That's what I'm thinking too. I know that the LSX will take anything thrown at it all day long, but I'm just more curious, besides aluminumnummmunum, and iron, if there's anything else that different.

LSX has a thicker sleeve in it, so it can be bored to a larger diameter. LSX blocks are the cat's meow, they'll handle just about anything you can throw at them. I have 16.5psi going through mine, and I can tell it's just begging for more.

The LSX block is nice but don't like the weight. My personal car we went with a resleeved LS2 for a 427. Extra sleeve strength and sleeve length works pretty well.
If you know power will get stupid, Go with an ERL 6 bolt superdeck now. Wish I did. At 1000rwhp the heads can lift. |

The liners are thicker, because there are no liners. ERL is a great option but when I priced it out it was $2500 more than the LSX block. With the money saved I just made more power or put it towards weight reduction to remove the weight elsewhere.

I would have went ERL if I were you. Cyber Predator is running a 416 from them with a IPS kit pushing 1064rwhp on 18psi. Just wait until we go to the next setting.

If you send in your core I believe the ERL block is around 32-3500. Although that is more than the lsx block I don't believe it's 2500 more. Without the core then yea. You don't even have to send them an LS3. LSXs are very nice though. Personally I just couldn't add any more weight to my car.

LSX is the way to go and will be my next upgrade. The weight of the LSX is overcome by the potential of FI and boost.

I didn't have a core and got my LSX before the last price increase. I would have liked to go Aluminum but the 6 bolt ERL superdeck $4800 without a core and my LSX was $2100. Both are good options and if money isn't a concern go AL.

LSA block here due to the utter lack of a panhandle machine shop with a LS torque plate. What other factory offers an aluminum block, already machined, with piston squirters, for just over $2k?! Plus places like Pace Performance have near ridiculous shipping prices that make it no-brainer.
