Just purchased a 2016 2SS
Hello everyone. Just purchased a 2016 2SS Auto 56k miles. Had it delivered to SA from Dallas last night. Car seems ok during first drive but hammering it in Touring mode was stupid. Car was all over the place. Switched it to track mode and it was better but traction control kicks on and it seems to limit initial take off. I also own a 2009 Vette pushing 800whp and it’s as stable as can be up to 206mph. Anyway, it has a pretty good oil leak coming from what seems like the oil cap. I’m going to change the oil this Friday with Mobil 1 5w-30 and AC Delco filter. I will also check the pan bolts for proper torque. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks

Did you warm the tires? Hitting it WOT on cold tires will cause the nannies to kick on especially if they're not sticky and you're in tour.

Also, it ain't warm in texas all that much right now, so colder than 60 degree days play hell on summer tires. Sounds to me that the TC is doing what it is supposed to be doing.
As a reference, from a stop making a turn on cold pavement slowly with my summer rear tires on, my TC kicks in at less than 10-15mph regardless of drive mode. And I mean on like a 20-30 degree F day.

An oil leak coming from the filler cap? Oh this should be good...
Really, does it break traction when you stomp the throttle? Interesting, tell us more... |

Yeah, about filler cap sweating is possibly a concern, what engine mods have been done if any? Hopefully it was a sloppy oil change from last time. |

Make sure you get the trans checked out, look through the service history for any evidence of a dealership performing TSB 18-NA-355 (see the detailed TSB itself here) that prevents shuddering. If this service was never performed, your trans will likely shudder as described in the TSB, if is hasn't begun already, and the sooner you take care of this problem, the better. Other than that, you want the latest infotainment software upgrade for the 2016, there were a few since this is the initial model year, but you should be good for the most part. If you want to mod and tune the car, it will be much cheaper to do than with 2017+ model year Camaros, because nothing was locked down in 2016, then GM started this "game" in 2017, and its latest architecture that the C8 Vette is on is much more difficult to crack (meaning more $$$ for you to pay). You have no reason to be snarky, he did say he was gonna check the oil pan bolts when he changes the oil. Also, he simply described his experience on his first drive, being the owner of a 800 rwhp RWD car, and politely asked for recommendations. I'm sure you never made any mistakes and knew everything the moment you came out of the womb.

Sorry for the late response. Tires are nitto 555 g2 all the way around. Rears 305/30’s and fronts 275/35. The oil under the cap was from a sloppy oil change. The cap wasn’t fully secured. Even so it has not dropped any oil whatsoever on the ground. That area under the cap has been clean thus far. Trust me it’s been ragged on a few times since then as I’ve let a few close friends tear into it. I’m not a stranger to going fast lol. I’ve been over 200 on the street (stupid) and over 205 at the Texas mile in my c6 vette. Since then that 800whp sbe motor has come out and a new fully forged 416 with ysi blower is in and running. Just waiting on a tune (hoping for over 1000whp). I also have a 2016 Denali with the l86 that I pushed to 700whp with PRC heads, cam, e85 and Procharger. Unfortunately the tensioner failed and pistons came up and met the intake valves destroying all of them. Me and buddy fixed it in my driveway but I removed the Procharger kit. My goal for the ss is around 600whp na. Any recommendations are welcome but I’m thinking Ported msd, larger tb, headers, cam (looking at a stage 1 non afm/dod cam from Texas speed). I believe I can swap the PRC heads and zl1 hpfp and injectors from the truck over to the ss. I can do the work myself. I am really thinking about adding a very small shot I nitrous, maybe 50-75 shot. I have been a gear head since the late 90’s (showing my age) and have had turbo, pd and centri blowers, n/a but never experienced nitrous. I think it’s time. Thank you guys for the responses. Oh I have vids of everything I mentioned above just in case anyone calls bs lol.
