When no one would ever believe Camaro production would end…..

This picture is from the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant in 1987. At the time GM had TWO plants running non-stop to build Camaros and Firebirds: this and Van Nuys, California. They couldn’t build these babies fast enough. It’s when I was in jr high and swore I’d own one one day. No one would have ever thought they’d cancel production of them.

Not once but twice!!

Guys wanted pony cars back then. Now it's jacked crew cab pickups with tires extending untastefully beyond the fender well lips. Oh, and a splash of mud which I guess indicates right of passage.

Yeah without the spoiler there was nowhere to mount it except for the tacky add-on at the top of the tailgate. At least our 6th gens have it integrated to the deck lid so it looks nice even without the spoiler.

Right? For some reason I thought the CHMSL on the glass was an '86-only thing. Come to find out, I guess they used it on the '87 Sport Coupes as well?

I was in high school driving a 1981 Dodge Omni with 80hp when that photo was taken. And lusting after a new IROC Z that I wish I had the $15K to buy

Does anyone believe that Tesla and EV's will end in 60 years?

I hope all EV's end in less than 10 years now that people are realizing what a scam they are.

For its day the 3rd gen was far more usable and livable than the 4th gen. More universal styling too.

Just like the 5th over the 6th. It's more usable (bigger) and less controversial styling.

GM announced they were going back to hybrids last week. Backing off of 100% electric.

That was how that did all non-spoiler models until I think ‘89 is when they put the lamp on the inside the top of the tailgate in an inverted housing.

When they brought this design out for the ‘82 model year the third brake lamp was not a consideration in the design stages dating back to the mid-70s, which is why a lot of cars had the “tacked on” look when the regulation was instituted in 1986.

I'm from Cincinnati and I remember that plant. I used to go over and look at those cars all the time as a kid. I swore I would own one too! The ZL1 is actually my 11th Camaro!! And most likely the last!
