Sorry for digging up an old thread, but it should be sticky anyway!

I put a car Im considering buying into my.chevrolet and it says the warranty started in jan, but the car is still on the dealer lot. Is that just the date the car was built or delivered? That was 10 months ago! Ill ask the dealer of course but is there a chance it was punched in Jan?

If the warranty started in Jan, that's when it was reported sold.

By the way, this month will be a month in which a lot of stuff will be false punched, to make monthly, quarterly, and annual incentive goals at the dealership level.

When I bought mine recently, chevy app showed warranty start date as the date it was built at the factory. It got updated to the date of sale after 3-4 business days.

They also will pull ahead to do the "on star track my car" thing. Dealers will sometimes pull ahead at the end of the each quarter, and at the end of the year. Sometimes at the urging of various GM staff.

So how can you check to see if your warranty started on the day you took delivery? Just go to https://my.chevrolet.com , add your car VIN, and go to the bumper-to-bumper warranty section. Compare that date to the date you took delivery. If it's not the same, you might have a conversation with your dealer. WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IS WHEN YOUR WARRANTY ENDS.....

It will tell you here:
you da man, I will verify this info on delivery.

Give it a few weeks or a month to get re-set. Mine took a bit and then was fine. I tried the chat on chevrolet.com and found the rep to not really understand the issue.

Bump for the unsuspecting.....

Picked my '19 ZL1 (6miles) up last week....found out when I looked on line.

I lost 10 months of warranty due to it probably getting punched for the dealership's incentives or sales numbers.......Bump for others

It has been written here by a few people that work for GM dealerships that a car that has been pre-punched can be rolled back and the correct warranty date started, I would check with Becky, who posts here often.

When I bought my SS it took over a month from when I picked up the car, and then the numbers changed to what they should have been (dates and mileage). I believe the dealer files the paperwork for the car being sold and sends it in periodically and then eventually it gets updated to the actual date of sale. It takes a while. My (un asked for) advice is to be patient.

Yes this was the case with mine. After a few weeks it was updated to my purchase date.

Legally, it's the date on your sales contract regardless of what any computer system says.
