2014 numbers

How do you find out how many cars will be built in a year like your own?

2014 numbers are not out yet as production is still going on. I know there is a website strictly on ZL1's and 1LE's look it up online.

Chevrolet will release production numbers once the production for that model year ends.

Look for that in June or July with the end of the model year.

The don't know going into a year how many they will produce. orders for car have a big impact on this.

production ends in june I do believe nobody will know till then.

2012 Zl1 production was ~2k (1,9xx)
2013 zl1 production was ~8k (79xx).

you can find the exact numbers for those two if you search I fogot the last two digets of the numbers. I don't remever them shuting down order intake Zl1 production last year from nov-feb though. I either missed that or that is new for this year

So it seem logical that there could be lest built this year

On the ZL1 registry there is a 2014 ZL1 #1345 built on the same day one year after mine.
Mine is #4317 a 2013.
So only 31% of the number of 2013's have been built for 2014 as of Nov 25th.
If that percentage carries out to the end of 2014 production, there will be less than 2500 2014 ZL1's.
Now factor in the hold on orders over this winter and the number might drop from this.
Many variables yet to see but 2014 could be less than 2012! ( in theory )

Interesting. Maybe the hold is more of a method to create more demand/decrease inventory for the ZL1. Convenient to put some blame on tires. Tires are a problem in the cold, true, but somehow last year they didn't seem to be. And for whatever reason, GM decided to build a crapload more in 2013 that are still on dealer lots. Possibly because at first dealers jacked up the prices on them and got more allocations, bought them thinking they were cash cows, and now are stuck with them. By temporarily locking out orders, people that REALLY want a 2014 ZL1 may not be able to wait (I want it right now mentality) and they'll cave and buy a leftover '13. I got a feeling it's inventory management.

Good strategic move by GM to put orders on hold, IMO.

Last year we had vertically no Winter but this year we are getting hammered so that is probably playing into it. With the new Z28 and the 1LE this year being so popular I can see how 2014 ZL's are possibly going to have lower production. I've already got mine so I'm good to go. The fewer they make the better mine may hold its value.

Thanks for the input. Wow one year later then yours. That 1345 on the registry is mine.

I think 2014 ZL1 numbers are lower because:

1- 2014 camaros have been restyled. To me a 2014 1LE looks better than a 2014 ZL1. I'm hopeful the 2015 ZL1 gets the front end change.

2- 1LE releases only 2 years ago, the option has caught on. Pay 40k and get 9/10th the performance and looks. Save 20k on the purchase, insurance and gas.

3- 6th gen is right around the corner

4- ZL1 is priced in new vette territory

5- used Z06s can be found cheaper if used is acceptable to some

In no particular order, I'm sure there are other reasons as well.

I leased my 1LE, looking forward to seeing all my options when it ends.

Point #1: I disagree. The new front ends are marginal at best. Better for the base model, no improvement over the ZL1 front fascia. The rear end redesign in the majority opinion is a FAIL of massive proportions.
Point #2 is good.
Point #3 too early for that, I don't think it is a significant factor, this time next year it will be though.
Point #4 It is actually more. And factor in that the base price of a 2014 jumped about $3K from the 2013 model and for what? A color HUD? The redesign of the rear end will actually cost less than the 2013 since GM uses more plastic and less paint.
Point #5 If I wanted a Vette I would have bought a Vette. I don't think the Z06 argument holds much water on this forum.

But.. the new Stingray IMO is definitely impacting sales of the ZL1. Their is no denying that it is a great car in the same price range as the ZL1. Combine that with the luke warm response to the Camaro redesign.. and I think that is a good of an answer as any.

My 2 cents any way.
