Lifting and setting on Jackstands
I did several searches and cannot find more than one or two threads concerning lifting our cars.
Both were started way back. Back when our Gen first came out. I need to remove my wheels and bring them in the warm house for the Winter months. What is the best way? Has anyone here lifted and set on four Jack stands? What was your procedure? I've discovered the lifting points. I want to do it the correct way without stressing out the body. Utube videos are stuck in my head. I may have PTSD after watching the Ford pickup winched out of the lake while folding up into a V Shape. Here is what I have come up with. I need to purchase " Five " of those lifting adapters and a puck. Work my way around the car and set on stands. Wouldn't it be better lifting from under the front and then the rear? Lift the front and set on stands. Lift the rear and set on stands? I watched a Utube video on lifting our Gen Camaro.. The whole right side of the car comes off the ground when jacking from the front pinch point. If I do it this way. Lift and set the right side on stands.. Move to the left... What is going to happen when I attempt to do the left side while the right side is setting up on stands? Is the car going too walk off the stands? Ok,, Am I over thinking this? Myself and a friend went front and rear with two floor jacks on my C6 Corvette multiple times. I lifted under the Aluminum and used a 2x6 too spread out the contact point. The rear differential is a lift point.. Do we have a spot at the front? |

I saw this yesterday and thought it was a great idea. Too bad it's a little expensive.

Yeah you're overthinking. Lift one entire side then do the other (using front pinch weld) placing two jack stands on each side (front and back). I've lifted my car this way 4 times so far and no issues. You'll be fine.
I have one zl1 addons puck that I use with my jack. |

I lift one side, set it on stands, then go around and lift the other side. Our cars are stiff enough to do it.

But this is my exact question. If i use the front pinch welds for the jack then where does the front jack stand go?

There are two areas on each front side to access the pinch welds. The forward section is where you put the jack stand, and the one that's about 4" aft of that is where you lift with the jack.

take note of the red square box area in the rear. that's where i lift when i only want the rear of the car up. otherwise i lift at the point behind the front wheel.

I'll be lifting her up side too side and pulling the wheels. I'm starting to get annoyed as too why I didn't pick up on this shit. I've had every Gen Corvette except for the C1 and C7. All have been purchased brand new except for the C1 - C2. Camaro's? 69 427 Camaro SS. 70 Camaro 360hp Lt-1. 78 Z28 I'm 60 years old now... Yes,, I'm starting to feel it. Brain and Body is starting to go stupid.. Thanks again, Last edited by MJP; 11-13-2017 at 04:35 AM. |
