I hate sedans.

Bring back the wagon and make a coupe!

Sigh.

Another volume caddie that volumes won't be able to afford.

This changes the game for me..... wanted a gen5 ZL1 now there is no choice but to wait to see what the gen6 has to offer. More time to save cash I guess eh?

CTS-V is a volume car?

And it's a Cadillac. The volumes aren't supposed to be able to afford it.

That seems a little aggressive, especially considering the Z06 starts at $79,000 and the V has always been less than the Z06.

I would guess $70-75k MSRP for a no option model. The Vsport is $59,000. I can't imagine a $25,000 markup for the V.
Cadillac's new president stated that they will no longer underprice their cars against competition (to recover the prestige in long term), and they even moved their HQ to NYC as part of the brand image. What you're saying makes sense per historical data, but I don't think they will be playing by the old rulebook

Wow! Nice.

First couple of shots I thought to myself (ATS-V looks better) but as I kept scrolling the car got sexier. Then I saw King T's pictures of the white one (non-renderings, which always helps) and decided this car is dead sexy. Only the rear looks a bit bland.

Amazing car!

We don't know if there is going to be a new ZL1, or if there is going to be anything replacing the ZR1. So I don't see how you can say what either car will be based off this.

And honestly, I don't see how this in anyway forecasts a new ultra high performance Corvette. In the last generation, shortly after the most powerful Corvette ever came out, the CTS-V got a less powerful variant of the engine in that car. Now, shortly after the most powerful Corvette ever came out, the CTS-V is getting a less powerful variant of the engine in that car.
As has already been discussed here and on other sites previously that the C7 will be short run stopgap that will be sold alongside the next gen C8 Corvette which in itself is speculative in nature to a rear mid engine chassis. This car could be a couple of years away so it makes sense to keep a high performance model in play until then for the faithful.

Now, as not having inside info on future plans, its safe to say that GM has no reason not to carry on the ZL1 plans on the 6th gen platform as the all around grand touring performance legacy that it has shown to be. The Z/28 will require a little more thought and engineering going forward due to what we want in a high performing natural aspirated track car with regards to future emissions.

The CTS-V has shared a Z06 engine for 2 of the 3 generations so far with no detunning whatsoever which means that besides the last gen having the LSA shared with the ZL1, GM has not played politics with the performance overlap of these cars in the last short decade. The ZR1 was the only top performance Corvette that did not share its engine with anything else in GM's lineup to date.

I think this will speak volumes about how potent the next gen ZL1 will be since I see it being at a minimum just as powerful as the next CTS-V, if not more so. JMHO.

Everything I said above is speculation on my part but it doesn't take being psychic to see that GM is very serious about its performance car portfolio and giving us the enthusiasts more than what we ever dreamed possible in each substantially updated successive model.

Aside from the previous gen GT500's hp and 1/4 mile times there is nothing that Ford leads GM in when it comes to their performance car lineup. Nothing.

Now, GM has already stated that the LT4 engine has a break in protection algorithm installed and once that is met it will perform as advertised. Nothing to freak out about especially since its not like Porsche GT3's having to have the entire engine replaced due to issues or like Ford having to reissue different intakes on Mustangs because they didn't make the advertised hp back in the day.

Point is that anything mass produced and man made will and can have defects especially with suppliers providing more and more subsystems on cars today. If it turns out to be an issue after break in then GM will like all respectable manufacturers fix the problem.
