LSA Mod ?
Hi Guy's,
I have a few questions. I am looking at putting an LS9 cam in my LSA engine along with an 18% lower harmonic ATI balancer. I am going to have the heads CNC ported and plan on running the LS9 valve train upgrade springs/titanium intake valves etc....basically all of the LS9 valve train. What size injectors will this need? I am assuming 60lbs I am looking at either running 1" 7/8 headers with no cats, or the cheaper option of removing the cats from the stock system and seeing how this performs, has anyone done this? and how is it compared to headers? Should I bother with the rocker bearing trunion upgrade? Is the stock timing chain ok should i use say a C5R chain? Is the stock oil pump ok should i get a larger one? Should I upgrade the pushrods? Should I upgrade the lifters? Any and all comments are welcomed. Cheers. |

The LS9 cam will not put any additional stress on the valvetrain so the stock chain will be fine, upgrading is personal preference at that point. The LSA oil pump is Pretty nice piece again personal preference. pushrods and lifters will also be fine. The trunion is optional but not necessary. I would move right to Injector Dynamics ID-850s then you will have room to grow. No point going from 54-60s 1 7/8 Headers are fine for your mods. Headers will always be better than manifolds, it is all about efficiency. Ted.

Just in case you don't already know- the LS9 valve springs will work with the LS9 cam and valves. But if you go LSA valves, you need to upgrade your valve springs.

I would get the C5R chain. I snapped the stock timing chain in my C6. That was an expensive fix. I also picked up about 25rwhp by switching from catless mids to 1 7/8" headers.
