Some interesting gossip from Hot Rod Magazine about the Camaro
".......However, GM insiders have blabbed to HOT ROD the range of potential powertrain options for the new Chevy ponycar. There will be two V-6 choices and at least three V-8's, including a550hp version of the supercharged 6.2L V-8 for a high-content Z28 model. Sources say there will be two base V-8's, one stick and one automatic, both of them over 400 hp." Now all we can do is hope this information is accurate! I would think 550 would be SS unless the Z/28 is gonna be top dog this gen. I just might hafta go out on a limb and be in debt for 5 years and get a 550 maro.

If I get the craving for more power later down the road then i will either mod it myself or possibly take it up the road about 120 miles to Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and let them have their way with it! |

I think I would be more than satisfied with the LS3 400+hp, but if i feel the need for more power then like casull said I will probly mod it myself. and I deffinately will have to finance it somehow since i will be fresh out of college with about $0 in my pocket, so the 550hp seems a little out of my grasp.

i kind of hope you are right but i hope they get the LS3 to i just like the SS name better than Z/28. Maybe the Z28 could get a 350hp engine and the LS3 SS fully loaded coupe for 35,000

Personally I would like the Top Model to be an SS (if it has to use the SS name at all) also, but for the opposite reason. I don't want the Top Model (I want the entry level V8) and I REALLY don't want an 'SS' designated Camaro. Z28 has a much better ring to it (no / please). Camaro should drop the 'SS' name altogether and use Camaro specific ID's. As someone said before- Any Chevy can be an SS, only a Camaro can be a Z28. |

that is right my friend any chevy can be a SS but only one can be a Z28. I hope the SS will be top. But I really don't care what is top.

BUT, if I must have an SS (since I will get entry V8 whatever they call it) I'll probably just remove all the 'SS' badging. |

Personally, as long as my Camaro has 400+HP I don't really care if it is a Z/28 or an SS as long as it is one or the other. I am not the kind of person that gets all caught up in the designations... I just want performance. |
