Haven't looked back to see my previous post on this subject, but, if I had to choose, I'd opt for 'Z28' to be the designation for a "Top Dog" Camaro.

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong ! We seem to have a difference of opinion here. Looking back at a post I made earlier. Z28's were made into SS's, so how can the Z28 be the TOP DAWG? That is like saying a base Mousetang is the Top dawg even after it was turned into a Shelby. Don't you think? So, my opinion is the SS should be and is the Top Dawg Camaro. Enough said, I don't want to hear any more about it or I will take my toys and go home....

In all honesty, it really doesn't matter a whole lot to me. Just as long as there is a new 5th Gen. parked in my garage someday.

To be honest, I voted SS as the top model. But the motivation for that is that I want a midlevel V8, not a top model. And, well, I want a 'Z28' designation (no dated looking slash please) on my Camaro.

That is exactly what i have been saying.... I could care less what it is called as long as it has an LS3 with over 400 hp and it is sitting in my driveway!

I want the Z28 to be THE Camaro. but the SS would be the equivalent of a Camaro on steroids...too much power for anyone to really need!

Also, if the Z is in the middle...I could afford it. it has a better ring to it then "SS"

SS and Z28

Word around the campfire (as I previously posted) is that the SS will be the top model and the Z28 will be the mid model. The Z28 will be priced similar to a GT Mustang ($28k nicely juiced and looking good!) and have a 5.7 liter engine. The SS will host the 6.0 and be decked to the 9's. The SS will be priced between $38-42K. I have also heard that the SS will be in limited supply so expect to see a nice $10-20k tax on top of the MSRP (ie the Shelby).

I for one am not going to shell out another 10-14k to get the 6.0 (even at MSRP!). I am COMPLETELY satisfied with a well tuned 5.7 liter engine pushing my Camaro down the horizon...more power to those out there willing to buy a $40k Camaro (literally); but I'd rather spend the $28k and put the money into exhaust and wheels. Plus...I think too many people have put the emphasis of speed on the CAR and not the skill of the DRIVER!

Cheers to all; I really enjoy this forum!

If anyone does happen to bring out a limited production ZL1, I'd look towards Berger, Tom Henry, etc. to build the bad boy. I'd love to see GM bring back the biggest and baddest name in Camaro. I don't know why they didn't do it in the past and why it won't happen in the future. Personally, if it was out and I had the cash.....

That's great to hear the LS3 is going to be putting out 450hp. That'll work VERY well for me. I'd be verrrrry happy there. **cough**...other engines w/ more hp??? You must point me in a direction!

The LS2 6.0L will be phased out and replaced with the LS3 6.2L. Now the LSA, that is a whole other ballgame !
