new BMW M4 vs Z28
Well as of now we all know how well the upcoming Z28 performs on track but one thing that pondered my mind. How will it contend against the upcoming BMW M4. From what I heard the new M4 has only a tad bit more hp than the outgoing version but way more torque. Acceleration numbers show quite an improvement as well and is also said to be around 3300 lbs. How do you think Z28s will do when tracked against these Bavarians.

The Z28 should stomp the M4. This should be expected though, especially because it will command a higher price tag.

BMW M4 have made the wrong move drinking the "turbo coolaid". Their last engine was way better in terms of exclusivity and sound and had the same hp. Z28 will destroy the M4 and anything else in the handling department. The LS7 wont have problem beating this in acceleration too.

I would assume that the M4 and 1LE are closer in performance.

Put some real tires on the M and it would be a lot more interesting, but the Z will still be faster. With the stock tires it will never have a chance. You need to understand how significant the difference between the Z/28 Trofeo Rs and a normal street tire is.

My mistake, I meant ZL1.

Z/28 will eat this car and crap out the BMW emblems.

The 1LE is 4 seconds faster than current M3 around streets of willow. Only 4 tenths slower than Ferrari 458 Italia. 1LE would put up a better fight against M4 than you think.

1LE is a handful on the track for any car. Other manufactures just refuse to recognize it. Everyone is too busy crying about the tires on the Z/28. M4's cost quite a bit more then a ZL1 also.

1LE is the better comparison because the Z28 is a more all out track car and much more expensive. The Z28 will crack that ass upside and down. The M4, like the 1LE, is a street car that can be tracked. They have plenty of creature comforts and can be daily driven. I do think this new M4 will be a hair faster than the 1LE and overall it will be a vastly nicer car on the inside. It should be better because it will cost much more than a 1LE.

3,351 pounds, 425 hp ,408tq from 1850. Are you sure a 1LE is comparable. With what Germany is spitting out these days just realize that their cars are actually faster than the average car with similar power figures from yesteryear. I personally think this is more Z28 territory.
