As with any car model, be new or used, they change from year to year, inside outside, but special packages are not the norm. You know they say, if something rare is there for the taking then take it, but also if you plan to drive it the value will be less, with a new car you have the warranty longer, bugs worked out and most likely better features.

Clear as mud right!

I Love the "HUD", because when the tilt wheel is down, the regular Speedo and Tach, are useless, cant see them at all!

I see my crafty editing above has an error in it. lol. The dollar comparison line is missing the word "replica" ahead of Z10.
Man, I'm not sure what you're smokin'?!?!? Yes, a majority of the original 1967 & 1969 Pace Cars were called "replicas". The rest were a very small number of the same cars that actually made it to the track and were actually used as Indianapolis Pace Cars, and those are referred to as "Festival" cars. Either way, even if just a dealership available "replica" car, their current value far exceeds a similarly equipped plain-jane or even SS car. The original 1969 convertible pace car was coded as a Z11. The much more rare hardtop pace car was coded as a Z10, and is even more valueable!!! Below are 3 ebay links that will give some examples of current values. Now if someone takes a regular Camaro and turns it into a fake pace car, then yes, (to me) it is not worth any more than a regular camaro.

To the OP....get the Pace Car (my opinion)!!! It will take a while (many years), but it will be worth more than a regular camaro. The only thing I didn't like about the 2010 pace cars was the automatic transmission. Too bad you can't get your hands on one of the super-rare Canadian pace cars with a manual transmission!!!

Where has the '2010 Indy SS for 35k with only 374 miles' been and what was done with it / by whom? If it has been sitting on a dealer's lot that whole time and the 374 miless are test drive / dealer executive miles that's one thing - then buy whichever you want. If this car is personally owned or might have been wrecked and repaired then I'd but the new SS instead.

Take the brand new one. It will take 20-30 years for these cars to be collectible.

Is it the Indy PACKAGE or the Pace Car? i was under the impression they were 2 different things.

I will say this-- if I bought the pace car itself I wouldn't be driving it much, and I'd rather have something I can drive than a garage queen...

the 2010 Indy cars history is that it was part of the chevy dealers private collection of cars. This dealer owns 10 dealerships. He has x amount of cars in his collection. In 2011 he received the convertible pace car and wants to sell the 2010 pace car. He drove it to work and back 4 or 5 times in a year and a half, that is why it has 374 miles. He can still sell it to me as a new car since it was owned under the dealership. So the factory warranty would start the day I bought it. The car has always been stored indoors at home or at the dealer showroom were it is now.

It is the SS/ RS that retails for 35k plus the Indy pace car package of $7000 with the Z4Z code. The total MSRP of around $42k.

The '69 pace car replicas were RPO Z-11, not Z-10 (those were pretty rare coupes but no evidence, photographic or otherwise, has ever been found that one was ever at or near the Speedway). A HUGE factor in their value is the quality of the car and it restoration. High quality cars have brought in the $75K plus range, lesser quality ones in the $25 to 45K range. There were 3675 RPO Z-11s made.
(Edit: Check out the #2 condition L89 big block Z-11 that hammered for $145K, scroll down a bit.)
http://www.sportscardigest.com/mecum...n-2011-report/

But I digress, we are talking 2010 and it is true that they were limited to just under 300 made. OF course the ones used at the Speedway would tend to have higher value (A VIN list does exist). However a well mantained non-festival Z4Z coded pace car would and should hold it's value a bit better than a non Z4Z 2SS. As others have stated it really comes down to how you plan to use the car. For the pace car to really hold it's value best it would be better if it were a relatively low miles, un-modified, weekend sunny day cruiser. If that doesn't appeal to you go for the new 2011 and have a blast with it!

If the purchase is to drive and enjoy, go for the 2012... if the purchase was to collect (3rd car w/ dedicated garage/storage space) get the pace car.

For me, I'd prefer a 2011 pace car over a 2010, yet I prefer coupes over verts. In any event, I can't leave a car stock, so I would be stock piling the OE parts I take off the pace car.
