Also, similar price level given the discount available on the CTS-V. Anyways, I didn't mean to derail this thread by mentioning the CTS-V. Just wanted to point out that a perspective buyer is just as likely to consider the CTS-V as an alternative as the Grand Sport.

Those are really good points. I have a 2014 CTS VSPORT and was looking at a CTS V 2016 but felt like it wasn't worth the upgrade. I also have a convertible mustang GT which I am going to replace with the ZL1 Convertible M6. I already have a solid car with the A8 transmission so didn't want to have the cars with a similar feel otherwise why bother. With discounts the CTS V is actually a more usable car as a DD than the ZL1. They both bring a lot to the table. Things to think about.

Ironically...the CTS-V is even further up on weight...~4150...right where the old ZL1 used to be. And while certainly fast, and technically advanced, it doesn't have the same track prowess as the other two.

Grand Sport is overpriced. Id rather have a gently used C7Z.

I thought the Grand Sport is quite reasonably priced. Few thousands more than a Z51 and tens of thousands less than the Z06, at least at MSRP. While Z06 is seeing some big discounts, I think eventually we will also see similar discounts on the Grand Sport.

There are base Grand Sports being advertised by Kerbeck in NJ for $60K, they were a few thousand less last week, so some kind of GM incentive must have ended.

The GS is priced right between the Z06 and Z51. The difference is not in the tens of thousands. I personally would rather have a gently used Z06 vs a new GS. Basically the same price at that point.

Is there any Z06 that's "gently used"?

I must be missing something here. Per chevrolet.com as of now.

17 Corvette Z06 2LZ => $85,005 (before $5,772 in rebate)
17 Corvette GS 2LT => $70,900 (before $4,782 in rebate)
17 Corvette Z51 2LT* => $67,695 (before $4,594 in rebate)

* The Z51 price includes the optional Magnetic Ride Control which comes standard with the Z06 and GS.

So, it takes about $3,200 to to go from Z51 to GS before rebate. But form the GS to the Z06, there is a $14,000 jump. Personally I would much rather have the GS with a Katech 427 motor.

Sounds about right. I don't see much point to the Z51 at this time, unless you don't want MRC at all. Otherwise, for $3,200, you get the wide body, slightly better brakes, wider/nicer wheels/tires. Probably better re-sale value too.

If you need a Grand Sport, then you need the Z07 package, which does really up the price a bit. So there is a pretty big gap between the C7 and the GS properly configured.

I would actually avoid the Z07 package if I would to get the GS and Z06.

- The additional aero bits actually slows down the car in a straight line

- The more track oriented suspension tuning can make street driving less comfortable

- The ceramic brake discs are expensive expensive to replace if you track, and if you don't then why? For the unsprung weight saving or the lack of brake dust? A little stone chip to the rotor can end up costing you thousands.

^^^THIS^^^ I've had a 5th Gen ZL1 and two C7 Stingrays and own a '15 Z/28 now. I have not had the GS nor the 6th Gen ZL1 yet but from my time in the Camaros as well as the C7s they are just two completely different animals in every respect car-wise. The handling, the ride, the visibility, the - well, everything - is vastly different between the two.

Like I said before, the GS or the 6th Gen ZL1 will impress on the road course no doubt. But they are different and just get their differently.

Love 'em both though. OP - go drive both and see what you think; both are awesome cars.
