C7 Firmware update question

hello,
I have searched through the forums but the last update I had seen was from December 2013. Does anyone know what the latest firmware release is? Also, is there a difference between the Z51 coupe and regular coupe firmware?

Thanks!

Don't have an answer for your questions but I hear the 2015 model year will not require a trip to the dealer for "firmware" updates. Updates are supposed to be done over the air. Maybe someone who went to the Bash can chime in.

There are many Controllers within the C7 system that can be updated, basically for each VIN the Calibration history needs to be checked via TIS to determine the software level, actually GM assignes a part number to each software update by system/subsystem. As an example Controller K71 is the Transmission Control Module Programming (Auto) and 5 part numbers relative to the subsystems.

So the answer to your question is you need to have the dealer verify your software based on configuration. Yes, Z51 should be different due to eLSD and in most cases MSRC.

Infotainment updates

I have heard that you can use the website link GM sends you to obtain software updates for the Infotainment system. Is this correct?

Not for Chevrolet at present.

I have read rumors that it may be possible in the future.

I would figure that it would be possible with a USB port. Since most everything electronic now days is updated through that. Thanks for the info!
