Anyone ever experience this?

It's been raining all morning, I get in my car to go get lunch and the car starts but half way through the starting sequence it sounds like something short circuits for a second then continues to start.

I briefly got a service stabilitrak message and I turned the car back off after a few second of idling. Restarted and it behaved as normal.

I assume something got wet that doesn't usually get wet?

Sounds like someone forgot to feed the trunk monkey. They start gnawing on the wires if they get too hungry.

Seriously, I'd just keep an eye on it, but check for leaks or maybe condensation somewhere?

Is it possible that you released the clutch a little and interrupted the starting cycle?

Didn't do it at all for the rest of the day

Not too worried about it, it was just weird.

Also to answer the clutch question, the clutch was in, at least I am pretty sure of it

I've done that. It kills the starting cycle and you will have to hold the key until it starts once.

I have after replacing a starter and battery; removed all the grounds ..one in the trunk two up under the engine on the frame rails by the starter and sanded where the grounds go as just a small 5/16ths type bolts threads where prior painting occurred seems to maybe be the trick as I read up on it helping others with starting problems. I of course have headers and heat soak and etc but it would happen even cold with slow starting. And I do leave on a exhaust controller with a very slight parasitic drain and of course the stock car uses energy with its computer and alarm.

If you've still got the stock battery, it could be near the end of its life cycle. Low voltage would cause the starter solenoid to click pretty rapidly like a machine gun, or only click once if it's really low.

Thanks for the tips

It hasn't done it again, but I'm keeping an eye out for it

Sounds like a temporary voltage drop IMHO. Check everything involved for tightness (always good advice no matter what) and oil on the leads of the solenoid. Better done in your garage than any parking lot.

It's gotta be those Speed Engineering headers. You should have opted for Kooks!
