Stripe Package Saga
So I pick up the beast from the dealership after the stripe guy puts them on. Now mind u that I was told this guy was the best around the Paducah, KY area..which is like being the hottest waitress at Denny's, its not that big of a deal!..Anyway he's still there when I arrive, and I find a wrinkle in the small stripe part on the hood. I call this to his attention and he tells me to just make sure and get plenty of sun on the car for the next couple days or he'd fix it..ok I'm good with that..Then as I'm talkin to the salesman I see out of the corner of my eye him take a razor blade out and poke a small hole in the stripe. Now I've heard of using a small needle to get the air out, but a needle and the end of a razor, too different things..So, after 5 days I still have a very small hole in the stripe, they are gonna fix it but I still hate the whole taking off the stripe putting another on process because I'm that anal. I also noticed that they are not exactly the same distance from the mid-point, maybe 1/4in off best I can tell..I included pics, so tell me if u guys think its off by enough to worry about or if I'm being way too anal..Couldnt get a good enough pic of the hole to show.

Based on the photos, I thin, the stripes are shifted to the drivers side. If you see the same thing, that is not anal. It would drive me crazy as well. I can see them not being exact, but if you can see it without measuring it, they can do better. They should fix it for you.

I don't know about the hole but the obvious uncentered issue wich is quite noticeable is unacceptable. There are several courses of action, the first of course is fix it.Second is live with it (not my choice) and third the avenue I would take..tell them to remove their shoddy work ,refund your money ,save some cash and have a GOOD shop paint them on.Just my two cents of course.

It looks off to me too. I wouldn't accept that either!

Absolutely off center. Have them removed, get your $$ back and have them painted on.

Mine were slightly off centered as well. (In the front of the hood only though).
Apparently, they both came on one sheet that gets lined up near the windshield near the drivers side, then applied from there. The part nearest the windshield will be lined up centered, but the front part is about 1/4 - 1/2 inch towards the drivers side. Also, they bubble looks as if it goes across the stripe. Then can't just pop that. It should be re applied. Also also, that first picture had me thinking the stripe tore in half at the light glare! As I understand it, GM doesn't ship cars with the stripes on. It's done at the dealer by third parties. |

This is the first thing I noticed as well, I'd get them replaced.

Next question is when these are removed, any chance of screwing up the paint?..Anybody had any dealings with the removal of these things?

Removing them shouldn't screw up the paint, quite a few people here have removed them or had them reapplied.
