Catch Cans
I searched and saw a few threads that were mostly threads advertising catch cans. What is everyone using, what you like about it and how much you spent.

I use the Mishimoto catch can I paid $185 for it. It’s a super easy install and all the parts are very high quality. After watching many videos and reviews of catch cans I like the mishimoto for its price and quality of capturing skills. I open it up every few weeks and there is a decent amount of oil/gas/condensation in it so I know it’s doing it’s job.

I have the elite engineering E2 with check valve. Easy to install and looks nice in the location it gets mounted.

RX. Simple and effective. Has a valve on the bottom that you open to drain. Think I got it used for like $100.

I got one for 40 bucks. It has a hose on the side to show the level. Knurled drain plug, pretty nice. From a major LS only shop here, they are over hyped anyway

Whatever you get, make sure it's air tight. If you can suck air while plugging the other end, send it back. I bought a cheap one that did this and the manufacturer said it was normal. Bought an elite engineering and its tight. You don't want to suck dirty air into your engine or have unnecessary vacuum leaks. JMHO.

$17 to $25.00 eBay!
I paid $17.00 for two of them for the Camaro, just need time to install and pipe. They are baffled: This one is $25, I have two in my Mustang: |

I bought this one from eBay. Great quality and the hoses it came with are top quality Continental ones.

I see some dual catch can set ups. Anybody running one of those? What exactly is the second can for?
What a range in price, $25 - $500.

There is "dirty side" and "clean side". Dirty side involves the PCV, clean side is the breather portion and will use a modified oil filler cap assy. I only have the "dirty side" type on my LFX powered car.

Just so everyone understands, you still don't want dust in your dirty side. That's not what that means.

It won't condense oil vapor that close to a heat source. Catch cans should be in an air-flow path to cool the canister to condense the moisture and oil vapor. There is no need to spend $100s of dollars on a kit, when $25 and fuel or trans line hose will do the trick. You can even buy AN10 braided hose for $2.00 a foot, and still be well under $100. The breather side on mine gets more oil than the PCV side. It also used to get more moisture till I sealed the oil fill spout base. If you notice, they're somewhat flexible, and only have an o-ring that wears. I positioned mine and used weatherstrip adhesive where it goes into the valve cover. This also stopped an oil leak there, a common area. I put on gloves, dabbed the adhesive on a finger tip, and went all around the base of the spout, and made sure it got into the seam. After it dried, the spout doesn't move, and there is NO more moisture on the bottom of the oil cap, or through the breather hose. That system is nice and dry now. |
