Plus with what I have been reading over at CZ28.com from the FBodFather, they are very much aware of the weight issue and are making every effort to keep it to a minimum. i don't think thy are going to pull of a car with those dimenisions at 3500 lbs, but i don't think that bring it in at 3900 would be to far fetched. EDIT: Here is the link to the CZ28.com message board where there was a discussion on the weight of the car for those that do not frequent that site. |

Did we forget about this:
Mr. Lutz and his wife spent nearly the entire Charity Preview in the Chevy Exhibit........ Doug Houlihan (Chief Engineer) flew in from "down under" for industry days and also Charity Preview -- and a few meetings..... He has a message for the enthusiast community: "Tell them not to be concerned with weight - we've called Jenny Craig!!!"......... |

Some other points of interest...
2006 GTO weighs 3725lbs (3725lbs/400hp =9.31lbs/hp) 2006 Ford Mustang GT 3613lbs (3613lbs/300hp = 12.04lbs/hp) If the 2008 Camaro wants to compete, they'd better keep it below 3800lbs! If its over 4000lbs they are in trouble! ~LSx |

All I can do is laugh when I read "weight", reality dictates this car is going to be a bit of a porker, but that will be the last thing on your mind when you're waving farewell to your salesman as you leave the dealer in your brand new 5thgen foot fully depressed on accelerator.

Thread Revival for Dimension References
Since I started this thread, I was curious to see how close my original estimates were, and interested in comparing them to other vehicles...
Original Estimated length: 186.2 in. - (from Edmunds.com) Actual Length = 190.4 (+4.2) Original Estimated height: 53.0 in.- (from Edmunds.com) Actual Height = 54.2 (+1.2) Original Estimated width: 79.6 in.- (from Edmunds.com) Actual Width = 75.5 (-4.1) Original Estimated wheel base: 110.5 in.- (from Edmunds.com) Actual Wheelbase = 112.3 (+1.8) Curb weight 1690–1825 kg (3726–4023 lb) (Only for Holden Commodore so far) Actual Curb Weight = 3750lb to 3860lb This means we have a weight/power ratio of: 3750/300 = 12.5lb/hp 3860/422 = 9.14lb/hp -------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here are the #'s for some of our competitors and similarly sized cars: BMW 335i: Length × Width × Height in: 178.2 × 71.5 × 55.9 300hp Curb Weight 3616lb 3616/300 = 12.05lb/hp BMW M6: Length × Width × Height in: 191.8 × 80.4 × 54 (closest in overal dimensions) Curb Weight 3909lbs 500hp 3909/500 = 7.81lb/hp! Dodge Challenger SRT8 Length × Width × Height in: 197.8 × 75.7 × 57 Wheelbase (inches): 116.0 Front track (inches): 63.0 Rear track (inches): 63.1 Curb Weight 4140lbs 4140/425 = 9.74lb/hp Ford Mustang GT Length × Width × Height in: 187.6 × 74 (79.3(incl. mirrors)) × 55.4 Curb Weight 3540lbs 300hp 3540/300=11.8lb/hp Nissan 350Z Length × Width × Height in: 169.8 × 71.5 × 52.1 Curb Weight 3327 306hp 3327/306 = 10.87lb/hp Overall we look pretty good, though bigger in almost every dimension, we ended up a little lighter than expected! Power/Weight looks good to, being better than everyone but the exotic germans, and most importantly we are WAY ahead of the Mustang/Challenger competitors! Rock On. ~LSx
