Custom Fuel Door..

Camaro 5 Brothers and sisters.. I need some ideas/opinions.

I have a friend who is a machinist, who has offered to make me a custom fuel Door. It sounded great, but thought he was just being nice because he knows how much I love my car.

Little did I know, an hour later he is showing me his CAD screen with a full to scale blank fuel door on it!! He is ready to start customizing.

So... fellow C5ers... I ask, What would look good on a Fuel Door??

I already have GM's custom door, that says "Camaro" on it. That door is the reason my friend offered to make me one, cause he hates that 1 on my car..lol.

My idea is an "SS" (Yes, I have an SS) inside of a Chevy Bowtie.

I thought about putting 426 on it.. but horsepower can always change..(for the better hopefully!!)
I thought about LS3... but that really doesnt matter on the exterior of the car.
I thought about Camaro 5 for a moment.. but not on a fuel door..

Corvettes checkered Flag emblem behind it could be cool, but its a Camaro, not a Vette...

I dont know. WHAT do you guys think? He's taleneted, so if you can think it, he can probably design it. Whenever it's done, I'll take pics of it on and off the car and post for everyone to see, I just am curious what others think would look good.

Any ideas?

That Concept Fuel Door looks alot like the Challenger's - which I happen to like a lot.
I'd go for one like that!

Where can I order one, cause all the other ones that I have seen look like CRAP! I bought a billet fuel door for the wife's 2006 Mustang GT when she had it and it was quality & looks all the way.

Love the concept door. Make the inside hinge out and the outer ring stay flush with the body

I'd take one of the concept ones in a gunmetal or satin finish.

Keep in mind, if you plan on selling these, GM is a bitch to get licensing from. So if you want to use Camaro or SS or RS or anything like that, you will have to go through them or risk a lawsuit. But I think that would still look awesome without the logo, just the door in that design.

----Just realized this thread is over a month old with no updates from the OP. It's dead.

I don't understand how this piece has yet to be created by the aftermarket community? Well in a way I could see why, it's a whole new approach that would need to be created from scratch to make sure that the indention can have enough room for the the cap inside. I am still keeping my fingures crossed for this to be created.

Also, and this is the hardest part: you need to get licensing from GM to use the fuel door and to have camaro written on it.

Do you need licensing just for the door without the logo? I mean if you change it just a little and leave off the logo, they don't own the rights to fuel doors in general.

I agree just leave the Camaro off the flip thing and good to go. Think it looks good with or with out.

Well if you design it that is identical I am sure that they own the rights to the design.
