No, that's not the real thing...the base prices seem..."meh". They're probable, but lower the 'SS' model's MSRP by maybe a grand - and it becomes more possible. 27k vs. a 26k Mustang...but with MUCH better performance? Okay, I can see that.
Now, the optioning is out of control. There's no way that options are going to cost that much...not after seeing what the G8 offers. |

Most Chevy cars offer a sunroof at about $800.

I'll merge this thread with the best pricing thread we've got, here.
And I'll say this: In 2006, at the NAIAS, Bob Lutz said that the base 6 would have to be around 20,000. And that the High-end V8 would have to be ~30,000; no more than 31,000. Numerous times we've heard from GM execs all over, including Scott Settlemire, that this car must be priced within the Mustang's range, as it's the most direct competition. Other than that....we've got nothing. Pricing is the last thing to be finalized when bringing a car to market. Oh, and WELCOME to Camaro5!!!! |

Is it possible to order a car from the factory with no stereo, speakers, wheels and tires for a price reduction as those would be things I would replace anyway?

Nope. You're stuck with factory options, and even those you're often limited to certain combinations, even on a special order. Things like COPO are long gone.

Yeah I've heard 20k to start which I think will be a base v6 with not much on it. I Think the top o' the line will be about 32k. Which is about what I'm expecting. I think that way they could be affordable and offer some really good upgrades for the SS or Z28. Has anyone seen the vert with the top up yet???

What about a possible Shelby fighter though?... I'm thinking close to 'Vette territory.

I don't know if this idea has been suggested yet. But this is what I would do to get a good idea of what the price would be. Go to msn.com click on autos select prices and specs then type in 2002 camaro there you will find original msrp's as well as the original invoice of the base v6 model and the other models. So take note of those prices then use the same steps to find the original msrp's for 2002 mustangs. Find the percent difference between the original msrp's by subtracting the price of the 2002 mustang from the price of a comparable 2002 camaro you can do this by multiplying the price of the 2002 mustang by 100 and then divide by the price of the 2002 camaro then subtract the number you get by 100 that will give the percent difference between the prices then you take the base msrp of a 2008 mustang multiply it by the percent increse you got earlier and add the number to the price of the base 2008 mustang and by my theory you should get the price of a base 2008 camaro but the bad thing about this is you kno the price for an 08 camaro but there is no 08 camaro so with the number you get as the price of an 08 camaro add the average increase in msrp from year to year im guessing somewhere between 300 and 900 dollars...if u want an exact average increase in price add all the increases from year to year for camaros from 1992 to 2002 then divide by the number you get by 10... hopefully this makes sense to somebody if it does someone let me know to me it seems like this would be a good way gm will decide their prices for the camaro
