GScreations smoke Tail lens install

so here's a mod I’ve been waiting for, a way to "smoke out" the taillights without massive dis assembly, irreversible paint or being flat illegal.. The are the tail appliques from GScreations and although expensive, (190) look fantastic.I have talked the guys there and was concerned about being illegal, but after mounting I can see they do very little to obstruct the light & meet the Florida law. (1000 feet visible) Here the pics. They mount easily in 3 min with supplied CLEAR VHB tape….

the stock tails:

One light comparison

both done (lights not lit)

don't like it? ok with me...I especially like it on my Cyber gray color tail bezels

I like it better that the 2015 clear, but I will say I worked a wreck on a kid that murdered his taillights on a low rider truck years ago......he was in a snow storm and the semi that came up on him COULD NOT see the reflectors that were suppose to shine - sitting in the traffic lane.............outcome was forever. I just know after being on the streets (my 36th year)....as many people that don't look ahead (texting and driving) or Prescription Pills, alcohol, drugs..........my car needs to be seen and my brakelights need to be as bright as heck.......cause whoever hits me probably wont have insurance and I wont have a cool looking car with two tone paint....Just my .02 cents

these should not be mistaken for "black out" lenses that affect light on situations. In fact, because they have no light coming back in from the backside when the lights are not on, they are very light tint ,i would say about 80% if compared to tint film. But when the lights are off, they just elim the red, when the LED for brakes or anything lights up , it's virtually the same as no lens at all. We mounted one on and the other stiok, almost imperceptible. I take my mods very carefully, I don't do boy racer mods and researched this with the owners of gscreations (they are local) as I said in my original post. I personally think its safe.

but to each his own, not trying to convince anyone to do it, we all are different...

but boy racer black outs are dangerous for all concerned - I often quote an LEO forum:

Watch the video install on their website very carefully , you really need to push the tops up before you swing the bottom in and let the tape grab

you only get one shot at it, so measure twice , cut once

and PICS please!!!

Thanks for the advice. I was going to place them over the lenses before removing the tape to see how much dimmer the lights would be, but based on your pics, everything should be good do go.

I'll post pictures once they are on.

Glen, those look sweet! I'm with Asptroopa1, the boy racer look is dangerous, and I'm glad to see your tint isn't ridiculous. I bought a '02 Corvette a few years ago. The previous owner had tinted the tails so dark they couldn't be seen at night AT ALL. It might as well have been black paint! I removed the tint first thing the very next morning. I re-tinted them myself with just a hint of smoke, giving the lights a sort of black cherry look. And installed LED bulbs. I've even installed LED lamps in my '74 for the extra margin of safety.

"black cherry " is a good way to put these in the day with no lights on...certainly not black, or even dark...

I ordered my tail light tints 3 months ago and GS creations said I have to wait another 4 weeks? Is there really a delay on this?
