What will be your cut-off point?
I was talking to my wife the other day about the new Camaro and we began talking about how much we are willing to devote to purchasing a new Camaro. I thought this brought up an interesting topic of converstion:
What is your ideal price range as well as your absolute cut-off. At what point will you no longer be able to justify the cost? Personally, my ideal price point is a nicely equipt LS3 for $30,000 or less. I would reluctantly hand over up to $32,000 out-the-door though. Anything in the $33-35k range would be a pretty hard sell, but given the right options I might cave in. Anything over $35k and it is a definite no-go for me. |

I would have to say 40K to 45K for the “Top Dawg” budget allowing. I’ve been saving where ever I can. If the “Top Dawg” comes out and is to pricey that’s just more money I will have saved for the next step down…

It's difficult to figure without any idea of pricing, but a "guesstimate" for me would be as much as I can afford. I don't want to spend so much that I can't afford to enjoy the car.
Ideally, I'll be looking at waiting some time to see what's on the horizon, ie; different models, and if I can swing it, I'll look to purchase the "highest-end" Camaro. Another thing to consider is, if the "high end" Camaro is fairly close to the Corvette, do I look to possibly buying a Corvette? (Probably not as I've always been a 'Camaro Man'. ) |

The top Z28 will be out of my price range, that much I know for sure.
I'll be happy with a nice automatic V8 Convertible, SS or whatever it ends up being called. Hide away headlamps will be the icing on the cake

I'm also looking for an LS3 Camaro, or whatever the mid-class (base V8) car will be. I don't have great funds, but probably 28-30K is all I'll give up.
I also don't want the first year, I'll still be in college (just leaving). I would like any bugs to be gotten out of the car, and give it a chance for the price to go down. One price-saver might be the transy. it will all depend on what is offered standard, automatic, or standard. Personally I think I want automatic paddle-shift. |

I'm planning on waiting a couple of years. Maybe picking up a used one that's been well maintained and still under warrantly, or buying the cheapest new one I can get with a stick and v8. It can have cloth seats and a cheaper stereo for all I care.
Maybe they'll even allow for GM card credits although I doubt it. I don't see myself shelling out anymore than $25,000. |

I'll have to wait and see how the car is equipped for the asking price. Wheels and tires are very important to me as far as looks and meat filling the wells.
Out the door between 30-32k. BTW gents, many times I have said to a dealer that I do not like the stock wheels and tires, will be replacing them immediately, and you have to buy them back<ie: take it off the price>, and they have always agreed. I have always gotten 1k off for that. They will just put them in stock, or on a lesser model and up the sticker on that car. Regards to All!!! Mike

I think about 30K will be my limit because i will be fresh out of college and have not very much money, so some type of financing will be needed. If the officals at GM say they want to price competitively (to a mustang at least), it should be around 27-29K for a base V8 because that is what a 07 GT is listed as on the website but who knows if thats what it will cost at a dealer.

$28,000-$30,000 will probably be my cut off point. I like all the extra features so i'm not sure if the base V8 and extras will put me over my limit, so I might have to live with the performance V6. That way I still have good performance, along with the good MPG, while definitley being able to add all the good stuff, leather, maybe navigation. Not sure if it will even be an option though. Not to mention I'm only 22 so insurance cost for a V8 might not be the best idea.
