Going to the range Saturday, looking forward to shooting this Colt. It was given time me shortly before my Dad passed this past January.

IMO, a family heirloom (especially a firearm) I would keep in pristine condition. he passed.

I agree with Diz. Maybe get it mounted in a shadow box with some photos?

Looks like a clean Colt Python! Still have the box and papers?

I don't think I would display because they've really gone up in price. I wouldn't be afraid to shoot it either, but would be leery of others handling it. In like-new condition it's worth well over $2k, more with box and papers.

Keep it clean and oiled and enjoy it along with memories of your dad.

A P85 Ruger!??! Man, that was my first semi auto pistol. My friends at the time had Baretta's and Tarus 9mm and would give me crap because my P85 was bulky looking bla, bla, bla. Say what you want about it but it worked just fine. Damn sure wish I never sold it.

Yep, picked it up in 1990 when I lived in VA. Just recently got around to getting it licensed in NY. Had to dispose of the 15 round mags because of our douche Governor's S.A.F.E. laws though.

If i remember right that was Rugers first attempt at a semi auto. The gun sold ok but didn't really get much of a following. It was a good gun though. Have any pics?

I love going to the range and letting fellow shooters who have never seen or only seen in video games or movies some of the guns I own shoot off a few rounds. Today I let a kid (maybe around 12) shoot my SCAR-17. His grandfather said .308 is a pretty big round for him and maybe 1 shot will be enough. The kid agreed and said only 1 shot. I told them "that's what they all say before quickly changing their minds". Needless to say the kid happily emptied the rest of the magazine. He told his grandfather he wanted that rifle when he got older.
