New member - Sydney, Australia
Hi Guys,
New member here from Sydney, Australia. Been reading the forum here nearly everyday, the best forum on GEN 6 Camaro's on the net! Just for an introduction, we have two of the new 2016 GEN 6 Camaro's, both 2SS Coupes, one in Red Hot, one in Dark Garnet Red, paddle shift autos. They are here already here in Sydney, Australia. We are re-engineering them to Right Hand Drive, seeing that GM have decided not to follow Ford and do a RHD version of the new Camaro's (like Ford did with the new Mustang's). As you would imagine, GM knew it would be a huge undertaking to do a production line version in RHD format for them now that they are in production, and all their tooling and robotics is LHD only of course, and would cost them in the scores of millions to do as a production line version. Now having taken one of our two Camaro's apart to do that, nothing has been designed symmetrically at all, so it is a huge undertaking to do that, and on a small (comparitively) budget for RHD Camaro's in very small numbers for Australia. Will get some photos up of what they look like pulled apart etc soon. We are in the prototyping phase right now, 3D scanning everything and then large format 3D printing the initial mock-up prototype pieces for RHD. Should be interesting. Cheers Allan Reed |

This will be a pretty cool build to follow, I'm looking forward to more information about your endeavors soon!
Until then, welcome! It's good to see some mates from the land down under join our little family here.

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Newbie Aussie from Sydney
Thanks for the welcome guys. I think, from what I've seen over the past few months 'lurking' on here, that its pretty civilised. Its the only board that I am a member of, too busy for any others!
By the way, we have a GEN 5 Camaro as well (I know its not a GEN 5 Camaro forum, but what the heck), here's a photo of it below. Just coming together now, its a pure Drag Race car, for your version over here of 'Competition' Eliminator, for both ANDRA (Aussie Sanctioning body) and IHRA (Yes, its here too). It will run on a weight break (lbs per cube), and no breakout as per Comp rules. Built by FJ Smith Race Cars in Canada for us last year. Should be fun, as we had a few race cars over the last several decades! Hope you enjoy: |

Cool I always wanted to go to Australia, its the only place outside of North America I want to travel to
Good luck with the build. BTW I have an FJ Smith story,I met him and his daughter at Toronto Motorsport Park. He laughed when I called him a legend.

Thanks guys. I'm liking this place!
Your one up on us then, never met him, been to the USA maybe 20 times but never to Canada, would love to go there though. He's a legend in the Super Stock/back half race cars for sure, I remember when he first did the FWD conversion to RWD race cars, I think in the Oldsmobile's, back in the 1980's. There are maybe three other companies doing similar cars really well, but we went with FJ as he's been around so long, like us I think! (getting too old). |
