Question: Anyone using a octane booster?

For you guys who are running high horsepower what fuel are you using? I can only get 91 here where I live and was wondering if 93 octane is good enough for you guys running big horsepower or do you add an octane booster like torco or something similar to that. Please let me know what your doing. Thanks

93 and meth here. Is there no e85 In Oklahoma? If you have E85 use that instead of 91. Of coarse you have to get a tune for that.

Yes there is a place that opened not to long ago that has e85. From what I have been told it’s really expensive to get a car set up to burn that? Is that correct?

it's about $2000 plus the tune cost. montmotorsports has a kit. dsx pump sensor and injectors. The plus side is the Hp gains you will have, anywhere form 60-100 depending on your current mods. It burns cooler and smells better also.

E85 is absolutely worth it, the fueling upgrades are things you will need to do anyway and you can go back and forth between E85 and Gas seamlessly. Long term use of octane boosters can foul plugs, O2 sensors and the converters.

When i first got the zl1 i was using racefuel additive and my plugs were orange. Ever since then i stopped using fuel additive boosters.

60-100hp gain by using e85? Really? I guess the person I talked to said for the cost of getting your car to use e85 was really not worth it because he allowed it only made 20 to maybe 30 hp. I could see doing the e85 if it made the hp you say it would. That would be a no brainer instead of having to have a can of torco or some other octane booster in your trunk all the time. I am going to check into that. Thanks

Like i said, the more mods you have to start with the more it will make. If you are all stock i can see 30-40 hp

Octane boosters are garbage with the exception of maybe Torco. The extra manganese in octane boosters will foul your plugs and turn them orange. Ask me how I know.

As others mentioned, save your pennies and go e85. Absolutely worth it.

Yes I Do...

I use Boostane Pro and 92 octane as there are no E85 pumps near me...

I almost hit 1,000rwhp but a slipping Supercharger belt and drop in fuel pressure stopped me. Both of these issues have been fixed and I am putting a bigger engine in the ZL1 now.

Tuner was amazed with dyno runs, he never pulled any timing spark but due to my issues could not add more timing...
