I've owned three BMWs in the recent past, all of them where the 3.0 straight six - bombproof engine aside from the head gasket leaks (on ALL of them).

My beef with BMW is the over engineered henny-penny BS that they want an arm and leg for, i.e. passenger occupancy seat mat sensor, steering angle sensor, plastic (excuse me, nylon) transfer case gear, that are cheap parts and WILL wear out and result in several dash lights (which for me as a mildly OCD, helicopter pilot can't stand).

Then there is the Uber picky ECU... Change the transfer case oil, battery, or transmission fluid and you must "Du Musst" reset the 'adaptive parameters' or the car will go schizo on you. Not too mention you most exchange with the most expensive fluids or OEM parts only (which of course are three times as expensive though they are made in the same factory as others BUT, they have the BMW emblem on'em ).

BMW used to make cars that justified their cost (i.e. mechanical excellence, interior quality, performance), but not any more. Now I look at a new M3, M4, M5 and just see an overpriced car riding on a good reputation.

Clearly, I have some BMW scar tissue. I love being able to work on my own cars and not have to take it to the dealer for them to charge me $100+ to hook up their software and reprogram the computer in the time it takes to fill the car with gas.

And yes, we clearly agree on the Audi timing chain shize - talk about a POS.

Yeah, if nothing else you can put it through as a comprehensive claim if you want to.

Hmmm, maybe extend it up to the top of the entire opening? Perhaps less ties in the middle as well? It will have some "give" at that point, but it should still be enough to stop a debris.

we can make a kit but remember they will get full of trash easier. What we will do is make them fit each grill space so it looks stock

I am not going to keep the plastic mesh, but would be nice if one could have a screen that attaches to the radiator; sticks out about 1" in front of the radiator and snaps onto the radiator.

Maybe a 3D printer can make a latticework black grill that snaps on each radiator?

Just slips in through the grill. I removed it and will wait for a better looking screen.
