I always buy the 1st year of a new toy; I bought the C6 (Z51) when it came out in '05, the Ducati 1098 in '07 and recently the '12 ZL1. While it is cool to be the only kid on the block with a new toy for a few months I've learned that valuable upgrades always happen and bugs are always fixed in subsequent years. With all this new technology and a new engine the C7 is bound to have some issues to fix and upgrades will undoubtedly be made. Personally I would lose a Ton of $$ if I sold my ZL1 for a stingray this year but I may get one down the road once I see how well everything is working and maybe the Z06 will tickle my fancy more than the Z51 stingray anyway

My house will be paid off in 18 more months. Then I can see me trading in my 2012 SS for a Laguna Blue Stingray.

I'd buy the competition seat just for the carbon fiber on it

Not sure of all the specs of the Stingray yet though. Not sure if it will have Magnetic Ride Control or not. I know the current ZR1 has it, but I don't know if all current models of the Corvette have it.

For now I only plan to rent the Stingray, until something with more power comes out like 600hp+

This could end up being a very difficult choice between the two, however it's still likely to be the ZL1...maybe. Can't go wrong either way, to be honest.

Then again, bench racing is wonderful - I'm sure someone will run an instrumented comparison on the two at some point |
