December 7, 1941. We must never forget

Just like Septmber 11, 2001, we must never forget. I took this picture on Ford Island while on vacation in Hawaii. We rented this 5th Gen convertible and this started my transition from old school to new school Camaros. Ford Island is a very solemn place. If you visit Oahu in your lifetime, I highly recommend the USS Arizona Memorial and a trip to Ford Island before you do anything else on your trip. It puts everything in perspective.

God bless America.

Well done, Dan.

This year December 7 falls on a Sunday, just like it did in 1941.

My grandfather fought in WWII, served as a Sailor on mostly oil tankers in the Pacific. Manned small cannons during his service, and even had to fight off some Japanese Zero's.

He is the one that sparked my interest in history, and the reason why I studied it in college.

Same here..., I had one grandfather in the U.S. Navy and my other one in The US Army. Both told some amazing stories. My Grandfather's ship in the pacific was one of the group the rescued the survivors of the USS Indianapolis.

i was in Hawaii and saw the USS arizona in 1986. Ironically, it was the year SPace Shuttle Challenger exploded and one of the astronaunts is buried in punch bowl cemetary. but yes, my Dad was a WWII veteran and was at Pearl Harbor too.

I've seen the memorial several times. It's a great way to pay respect to those that have sacrificed it all.

Great post! Soon the WWII vets will no longer be around like my dad who served in the Navy. Take time to thank them if you meet one. God Bless America and all vets. Thank you!
